Good work. 👍 One thing you mentioned in here that I have a question about, is “using the highest quality samples you can find”. Is there any advice for how to gauge a good quality sample from a lesser quality when looking at sample packs? I’ve found that sometimes I can’t tell if it’s good or not until I have installed it and start messing around with it. It ends up being a decent amount of time wasted when it turns out to be bad. I’ve heard that there are good free sample packs out there, so I’m not sure if just eliminating the free ones is a good approach? I also don’t want to waste money on a bad sample pack. Thanks

What we talk about is quality and how it fits with your track, if you can right click or get anu info on the sample then you have to make sure its WAV and not MP3, this is because you lose some top end in the compression. so look for WAV and minimum 44khz and 16bit and higher. this will ensure you have a good quality sample, the second thing is, especially with kicks, is to make sure the sound of the kick is in tune with your track and if you cant edit it too much make sure there isn't a great amount of tail on it, so much so it clouds the bass coming in on the next beat, if you can edit use a trans gate to make the sample shorter and finish before the best beat(In EDM) I am recording Fridays Video now which shows how I get samples with Loop cloud and how it all fits with the track I'm working on. Start to build up a sample bank of things you like and know are a good quality, I have a good range of kicks and snares and white noise filters that I go to each time, when you get a sample you like, save it in a bank of samples on your computer. in time you will build a great library of go to sounds
