When I saw the size of the EQ window on this video it made me realise I can expand the size of the EQ window!! Been using it for years and had no idea you could drag the size of the EQ window :-D

Fascinating stuff. If this is "for beginners" I definitely need a "for dummies" level tutorial. I don't understand so many fundamentals (tools and concepts) that are assumed to be understood that I flat out never heard of or comprehend. Keep up the good work though. I'll try to catch up.

Good use of strip, but I would have just started at gain stage and went right down in order, with reason I see people all the time that just don’t get the “signal flow” in first place, I tend to give people help on Reddit a lot lol, and gain staging can be eminent before hitting rest of strip too, and lot of people over look it, not that it’s always necessary, but im just saying in video like this, I def would have given people maybee starting out better understanding of it, and big picture with rest of strip, for when it is necessary

Good feedback! In my opinion, there isn't a need to bother with the gain if the gain was set properly when the vocals were tracked.

I used Reason almost exclusively up to about 10 yrs ago then I switched to MPC hardware and software. I opened up Reason today with the intention of getting back familiar and maybe touching up some old beats but I was so lost. First thing was that I couldn't see all the channels (tracks) on the 'ssl' mixer, the only bus visible is the main bus. And then I'm lost as to why is there two different mixers.
@veer77
6 ай бұрын
If you are opening really old tracks, it's likely you were using the 14:2 mixer and need to convert to using the SSL channels. I find this situation every now and then when I am going through my file backlog. My approach is, if the channel on the 14:2 has no sends I just create a new mix channel and move over the connection. . If there are sends in use, you can copy the effects directly into a new mix channel and recreate the send levels with the line mixer. ((do this for each channel to fully convert)

That’s edm for you right there, especially future bass. Most projects you see render down their super saw layers but my computer can handle it so I just leave it. Also if you think I use a lot of layers check out Jacob Collier’s project breakdowns 😂😂

1) He doesn't introduce the track he'll be mixing and play it through once so we can hear what it sounds like unmixed. Amateur hour stuff. 2) Dives right into the tiny nuts and bolts without the audience being shown what the value is. He doesn't even show how he got there. You're just immediately lost. 3) This is Reason's official channel. This is a random kid we don't know. Why should we listen to him? Who is this? He inspires no confidence. Watch mixing in reason on Thomas Foster's channel. That's an adult with some sense and good production value. Look at what Ableton and FL and Cubase are doing on their channels. STOP CHEAPENING YOUR BRAND.

@@nitroxmusicofficial in Reason I want to search for sounds from my thunderbolt external SSD but I can't. i'm not able to get in contact with Reason to find out if it can be done & nobody else seems to know how to do it. I would not like to bog down my laptop with 20 years & a terabyte of sounds & samples. seems like every other beat program can pull from external SSD's but Reason is all I know how to use. any advice on what to do?

Liked the video until i actually heard the mix in its entirety. Squasehd the life out of it, the mids are way overdone and almost painful to ears. But a good tutorial, nonetheless.
@nitroxmusicofficial

Take into consideration I mixed the whole thing on the spot for the video…. When I’m mixing projects for real I would dial in that mid range a little more and make sure it’s super smooth. You also have to remember in EDM, especially very loud genres like future bass, a lot of compression is required or the vocal will be completely lost in the mix.
