In this video were mixing strong fibre reinforced concrete with a mixer.
When it comes to mixing concrete there are loads of different kinds of mixes and materials you can use to aquire the desired strength and look.
Here on the farm we like to make concrete strong! After all we need to consider what will be driving over the top of it. Weak concrete will be more prone to cracking and wearing under pressure.
My favourite concrete is RC45 with fibre. Now this is almost impossible to mix at home but a mix that comes close is 4 stone (all in 25mm to dust) and 1 Cement with fibre. This is a really strong hard wearing mix and ideal for farm use where high strength and durability is needed.
This mix would be suitable for a wide variety of applications. Concrete drives, paths, pads would all benefit being made out of this mix. Its more expensive to mix due to the amount of cement used but trust me....you won't be disappointed!
The stone ( 25mm to dust) we used in this video is from Towy Works in Carmarthen and the cement was also bought there and the brand is called Mannok. I would advise you support your local Builders Merchant for material as it would be a lot cheaper. If you prefer to get it delivered I have included some Amazon links below.
