I am 52, back in university, and took math for an extra, and when I found out we were doing word problems I literally cried. I thought, that's it, I'm going to fail. Until YOU!!! WHY didn't someone ever teach me like this???? I have spent years thinking I had some kind of deficiency. I thought that I was totally just lost, and had reconciled the fact that I was about to FAIL!!! But now I feel confident. I know that I can DO this. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I have learning disabilities, and just attributed my problems to them. It's not. It's due to teaching technique. I finally have confidence in my ability to learn math again. And at 52, that's saying something. You rock. I am not scared of my midterm tomorrow.

Paying for university classes and your videos were a million times more clear than my teachers. Thank you SO much for your help, it's been miserable trying to understand this with such vague instruction.

Interestingly enough, you can actually think of these problems as "resultant moment" types of problems. If you imagine that the quantities for each liquid are "forces" that cause clockwise moments on a frame, and think of their individual concentrations as "positive distances from the pivot point", then you can add their individual moments together, and then find the required "distance" that their resultant "force" has to be away from the pivot point in order to cause the same moment. Of course, you can also rearrange this formula and find other quantities than the final concentration in the same way.

This matrix is great for remembering that percentage solutions problems are easier than complex decimals...

Can you extend this table to more than 2 liquids, like for example if you pour 2 different solutions into a 3rd solution?
