This beautiful timepiece, located directly in front of the Nippon Television tower in Shiodome, Tokyo, Japan, was designed by none other than Hayao Miyazaki himself. He wanted it to be a permanent, physical work of art, and to that, I say, he is completely successful!
You can catch this show 4 times a day on weekdays, with a 5th show added every Saturday and Sunday. The attention to detail is stunning! The 20 ton clock has over 30 individual vignettes playing during the show! See if you can spot them all!
If at all possible, try to catch the show (at least) once during the day so you can appreciate all the detail that went into this piece and once at night to see it fully illuminated.
My favorite aspects of it are the clock inside the clock (priceless! Or should I say timeless...?) and the lone guy goofing off while everybody else is working so hard. What is your favorite part?
