It's unbelievable how comfortably you can fit this much information into a video. It's well-scripted, well-edited, informationally dense without feeling like an info dump. No dead air, like while timing the boot up you're still telling us about the device instead of just making us watch a timer in the corner. Just the perfect balance between informational and engaging. I subscribed after watching like two videos a few months ago and I'm glad I did. Keep up the excellent content, my man.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. I'm finding that it's taking me longer and longer to do these videos, but I am much more proud of the final product. There is a bit of dead air in this video on purpose, though; when comparing the bootup/gameplay/power-down of the 280V/Mini, I decided to just leave the 10 seconds of utter silence while waiting for the Miyoo Mini navigation, so it would speak for itself :)

This channel is right on point. There's a lot of people creating content around retro handhelds, and each have their unique style, but RGC is where it's at for in depth, quality reviews, tips on system setup, and honest discussions around the real pros and cons of a device which are often skipped over by other reviewers. I was almost sold on the Myoo Mini before I saw this review, the device is great for the price but just short of the mark. Either way, another fantastic video! Top drawer content my friend!

Can you confirm to me if you can display a SNES game pixel perfect at 1x filling almost all thr screen? I've been reading articles(and here too) the vertical pixels have half size in comparison to its widith. Because if it is really a 256x224 SNES game on a 320x480, it would be almost full width but only half of the height. I'm considering getting the RG280V but I can only stand pixel perfect, no filters.

The other videos I watched on this device didn't show the limitations as well this video did and no one mentioned the screen issue. PS1 problems aren't a deal breaker but having trouble with Gameboy and SNES games makes me want to wait and see if later firmware and retroarch core updates help out. Does this have any problems with genesis/megadrive games? 21:00 Whoa! The sleep function doesn't actually put the device to sleep?! With the term "sleep function" I would expect it to suspend the game and operations. Not just turn off the screen and sound. I wish other reviews would have mentioned that!

This would likely be a really pocketable replacement for that with a lot of the same charm and that classic DMG vertical feel. But I bought the Pocketgo early and it was overpriced. @@sethtoybes9392 Ikr lol I'm very tempted to get one too at that price to replace my 280v. I'm just not a huge fan of the shoulder button placement/ergonomics on that device. I'm sure a lot of people are going to be really happy with this device when they get it. To me, it highlights how the RG280V could be improved so immensely if the shoulder buttons were better placed, IMO they should be in the very middle of the back of the screen, L2 & R2 slightly raised and on top of L1 & R1. I do hope a revision like that comes in time.

Also, can we all agree that it's almost impossibly frustrating that, if you're looking for that one "go-to" retro handheld, that it somehow has yet to exist in the way a "type" of fan wants? Like, I WANT a tiny retro handheld... but like, an RG280-V, inside a Miyoo Mini shell. Traditional retro handheld: RG351P, but it's got the Retroid Pocket 2's shoulder buttons and A/V out. Am I a minority in wanting that device that just feels like "this one, but with these niggling things changed"?

I know I will enjoy my miyoo mini a lot, it emulate perfectly 99% of the things I want to play right now. The resolution will in time show it's benefits for interpolation. The screen in itself is really not bad. We are spoiled by IPS screens but in it's time the blackberry bold 9900 screen was praised for it's clarity and outdoor visibility. It seems to be a very fun device.

So that's the great thing about the 280V and the Adam firmware image. You can press SELECT when hovering over the game and choose a different emulator. PocketSNES does better for some of those harder games. I just tested FF3 with PocketSNES and it only had one audio blip during that intro. The nice thing is that after you've figured out the optimal emulator for a particular game, it will save your choice, and then you never have to fiddle with it again.

I really hope that they continue to carry the design moving forward. Bringing about changes, but with familiarity from the previous generation designs gives it some iconic design/branding and just some assurance people recognize, especially in its form factor. I find that when a new generation design changes so dramatically, you'd realize it's just another one of those rebranded ones and you'd lose that sense of "security" that the device made was actually tailored, and that enough care and development was put through in putting it all together. Personally I find those crucial if I'd go about supporting something such as the likes of these myself on the long term, developing or just pure consumption alike. But then again, all that said, maybe it's just me, and that I'm just "too much", "non-sensical" bud. But all-in-all, based on reviews such as these (a good one btw), I find that the design and build quality is really well done, something very welcoming to new users/audience (such as myself). So really good job from the team behind this.
