I find it so tragic that Hannibal never reached the success of Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones. I can honestly say that it has been one of the most consistently outstanding shows I've ever seen. In a way I'm glad that it wasn't a massive publicised thing, but I wish it had survived. Still, they ended season 3 so perfectly.

The episode for this scene was amazing but the majority of the series focused on a meandering killer of the week plot with too much surrealist scenes. A nice scene doesn't make up for that, and not to mention it went down hill trying to tackle the red dragon plot.
@489Acresofwheat
7 жыл бұрын
I would argue it's deeper than that; Dexter had a meandering 'killer of the week' plot, but the killers in Hannibal each had the effect of revealing information regarding Lecter's role as the Ripper and held opportunities of strengthening the viewer's understanding of character relationships. I agree to the extent that it became slightly repetitive through the course of seasons 1&2, but I definitely don't think they failed in their attempt to make a cohesive story line.

I finished the show almost a month ago and I can't stop thinking about it. More specifically, the teacup metaphor. It took a rewatch to finally understand that Abigail was the teacup, and some reddit browsing to learn about Hannibal's obsession with time reversal. I now think that while Hannibal tells Will he shatters teacups for Abigail, it was originally for Mischa. In a way, I think everyone he kills is a teacup. He feels compelled to murder people at his whims because deep down, he's waiting for proof that people can come back from death. He also refers to Will as a teacup in the very first episode, which is made more interesting by the fact Hannibal guts him in the season two finale, thus shattering him. Mischa was the original teacup which shattered permanently, the people Hannibal kills are teacups he drops without care, Abigail was the teacup he only pretended to drop, and Will was the only teacup to shatter and come back together again.

The teacup analogy is quite fitting for the experience of watching this show or any great piece of art. @blizzardlizzard Well to be clear hannibal gave psilocybin to abigail and she dropped a tea cup and shattered it in season 1. When we all thought hannibal killed abigail he said he drops a tea cup to remind him of her and tries to bring those moments back when she was alive. The whole point of the tea cup is hannibal trying to bring back those moments with abigail and will because he cared and enjoyed moments with them. So bringing back them back together as a family in the season 2 finale felt like time reversed and the tea cup shattered came together (even tho he stabs will and cuts abigail's throat).
@SSNebula
4 жыл бұрын
First of all, it's "the tea cup that I shattered DARED to come together" and to the person wondering about the tea cup the response above me is nearly right, only, Hannibal never meant the tea cup that Abigail shattered to be the one that he "puts together" as during that time he still had hope for Abigail and will and he even says to Abigail about not wanting this life for her and that he is sorry he has to "kill her" but then we find out later on he never did but eventually would kill her but anyway I digress, Hannibal's words to will are that he himself drops a teacup to see it shatter and that he's not happy when the teacup doesn't gather itself up! It's obviously a metaphor but I feel that it should be pointed out that you never actually see Hannibal drop the teacup only thing you do see is A teacup shatter after his dialogue with will and then the teacup gather itself together again after the talk they had about how much they loved Abigail and how sorry Hannibal was that he couldn't give back Abigail to Will! Yes Abigail does drop a teacup and it would only add more foreshadowing to an already stellar show but the teacup is dropped by Abigail on accident and literally only is a coincidence that it fits Hannibal's further on "metaphor".

Is that really a problem though? I like dark things, i prefer not to be ignorant to what is around us and just wish know the flying rainbows and the demons. The show is not only dark, but very cultured and well acted & intelligent, now that is a reason i can come up with why ignorant people would prefer watching eastenders or Dexter.

After Hannibal, this piece and Chopin's Prelude in e minor, I cannot listen to them anymore as I am overcome by a great sadness if I do. Chopin's piece is from S2, when Hanni is alone in his office, and Will is in prison. Very, very sad. Anyone else has a similar experience?

Just finished the finale. Holy fucking shit this series is a masterpiece! that was one of the greatest finale's I've ever seen! so goddamn beautiful! every scene was masterfully done, I especially love the scene where Hannibal stands in the rain - In culture, rain is seen as cleansing and sin washing. Hannibal was going to start a new page by throwing away everything he knows and washes it all way in the rain. What an amazing end to an amazing season. Such a fucking shame this got canceled, if this had been on HBO or Netflix , it would have gotten the popularity it deserves.

This instrumental makes me so emotional like I’m just on the urge of death at peace with myself dying and perfectly ok with contending to the other side peaceful content fading into the light as someone holds me close like I was the most important thing in the room the most fragile and need of protection looking at me sobbing like they had just gained everything every need of life and just as they gained they lost it all and fell into a impending flood as they tried to grab a hand to help pull them out of the fast river waters but realized it was too late, as I bleed out as I say “this is utterly beautiful” with a tear strand exited my eyes in the numbing look of my face and eyes “I will always remember this time” as if I had recalled all the memories I once had and watch them flash and glow like I was walking into a pure white room from the darkness as I die in a pool of my own blood on the floor closely clutched and desperately held by my friend holding on to whatever hope they had as it fades into the light with me as my friend says, “it’s ok” “your not alone” “you’ll never be alone” “I’m right behind you” as they let a few tears fade from their eyes and onto their despaired, hopelessly painful caring and loving face As they tried their best to save me but succumbed to the feeling of my grip loosening as the light everlessly fades from my eyes starring as if I had lost it all and gained the sense of worth and feeling of inspiration and life like I had completed my purpose in life and felt at full, pure peace. content, and joyful, tired, and painless, as I smiled as if I had just seen my family member before their last days and said goodbye to them in their last hours as they told me “I’m purely at peace I’m proud of who you’ve truly become and at peace with what you’ll always be.” In a pure euphoric glance of memories eroding to the surface
