How did you manage to make the steering wheel controls to work with the MIB2? I want to upgrade to the MIB2 PQ and i've heard that you need a LIN2 generation of steering wheel controls (like the ones from the MK6) to make them work. I would like to keep the MK5 steering wheel cause the newer ones look a little bit to modern for the car. Do you have like an adaptor or something for the Mk5 steering wheel? Thank you!

I never knew that! I kept the stock wiring and everything because I too want to keep the mk5 wheel with the plate it has too, it was mostly plug and play and I didn’t need to modify anything other than a harness adapter

Hi, I have Mk5 Jetta, (red LED telemetry same as in this vid) i'm looking to remove the old standard radio. Ideally I want to do exactly as you have done. I'd be over the top appreciative if you could email me all the steps to get this job done, MIB STD2 PQ can be purchased new from VW specialist resellers, used units from car wreckers. so no issue getting the units themselves, I just need to make sure i have all the other parts that will integrate my car's steering wheel audio controls, Bluetooth/cell phone, rear camera and native satnav, I could use your help for this process as there are not that many people that have done this for a Mk5 2006 Jetta FSI 2.0L that i'm aware of.

Hey there! It’s actually not hard at all, if you go on eBay you can find a quad lock harness adapter for your car to MIB2, you will also need a carplay cable and the little box the usb sits in, the separate cables to joined adapter for the fm last is a microphone (the mk5 has a cutout for it in the overhead console and the stock mic fits in it perfectly) and then just plug it in and your steering controls will work and everything else your car has. My email is atmur222@gmail.com if you have any other questions or want me to send a list of the products. As far as finding the radio it’s called an MIB2 std2 but more commonly you’ll find it under “2020-2022 Passat radio” this is the American Passat it comes from but you can find a lot on eBay. I sold the entire kit a while back when I put this mk5 in storage and I didn’t need it anymore, but I’d be happy to help find it all. Cheers!

I believe every once in a while they pop up on eBay under the name I have as the title, but I got this one from a very good friend, hacked, with the adapters for mk5, and the usb for CarPlay. I might sell this unit and the parts if someone wants it as I don’t use this car much anymore
