I know this isn't a super interesting video for you guys but I wanted to make it to help out people. I had issues finding content and the part I needed so wanted to make it easy for anyone else. Hope this helps!

Has the Amazon valve been working fine still? I have the same issue although I can’t say I’ve felt a loss in power. The ticking is really annoying though.

@@cristianramirez-zj2nj you can try the amazon part the one i got was bad and i was still getting codes. I then order one off esctuning. A little more expensive but it fixed the problem. The fix definitely works!

I did this today. “P0420 code cat not efficient” was my code. I had the full part ready to go, but wanted to try this method first. I used a dremel cut off instead of cracking the hose. I Discovered that the purge valve not purging made my exhaust sensors see too rich. That crapper would lock Rich on the #1 o2 sensor. It sucks that I changed the cat and sensors and it was something not in the exhaust. Live and learn.

Thank you! Patrick for the video. I ran into the same issue with my wife's 2013 VW Beetle Turbo Fender Edition. Purchased the same wrong purge valve like yourself. I returned the wrong item and purchased the canister purge valve assembly like the one you purchased. Then, used a Dremel to cut the old part off and used hoses and clamps the way you did your project. It worked! No leaks. No engine code PO442.. I didn't feel like messing with the other hoses. Thanks again! :-)

I had the same search for the part. I am getting a code and need it gone for smog test. Finally got that part from Rock Auto. Was dreading getting behind the intake manifold to attach those rear fittings😊. Will definitely take your cut and patch method.

Great video!!!!! So I currently have a misfire in cylinder #3. I have replaced coils, spark plugs, intake manifold, injector (it was leaking) cleaned MAF and still have a misfire only in #3. I guess my question is, could a purge valve failure only cause a misfire in one cylinder???

And I was mistaking this for lifter tick. LOL. For Jettas, the code linking to purge valve failure as well shows up as P0496.

@@nickpercs3677 Funny you mentioned that. I just replaced my N80 today. My N80 BOSCH one died at around 85k miles, went to autozone and got that one and it died 7k miles later. Now I’m on the third one (under warranty) and so far everything is running fine. If this one dies, I may have to try the one you got or go back to Bosch. Thank god on the 2.slow, it’s easy to get to. 😂
