‘23 DSG here. Running 034 Motorsports Stage 1 93 tune (low torque) with a locked TCU. Still making well over 300 hp/tq as well!

Love it!! How are you enjoying DSG? I test drove one and couldn’t do it (need manual!), but I bet the tune helps bring it alive?

@@TheCarCreative Coming from a Focus ST, the DSG is definitely more livable from a heavy traffic commute standpoint, but still plenty of fun in manual mode with the paddles for me! Tune definitely wakes it up.

@rjbaldwin_ makes sense. If you’re commuting a bunch that would be tough with the manual.

I have EQT stage 1 on my 22 mk8 gti. Using the cobb unit gave me the peace of mind since they’ve been around industry for a while. Even with the low torque, it pulls hard. I’ll likely need to upgrade the clutch within a year or two.

That’s awesome! I agree, the low torque still scoots real proper. More than a FWD car really needs honestly in my opinion but damn it’s fun!

Just a question if you don't mind. Planning to buy a mk8 gti it was built 12/20 so early 2021 model. it got a stage 1+ (324hp and 462nm) and a dsg stage 2 tune. It had it for around 12k miles now and planning to buy it. Do you recommend buyting a tuned car or?
@TheCarCreative

While I am honoured that you would ask, I hope you wouldn’t make a big decision like that purely on a KZitemrs advice. I’ll caveat by saying I am new to the tuning world, and this is just my opinion. With that said, in my research, I have heard that tuning VW engines is quite reliable as they have been doing it for quite some time and most companies have got their ducks in a row to make sure engines aren’t going to blow up. I know a few people who have built, tuned, and sold their VW’s with no issues. I personally would be sliiiightly hesitant but it would come down to meeting that person and seeing if they’re sketchy or not, cuz that’s likely how they would have built their car also? (That’s a guess). I know I am careful with my car and don’t drive it like a mad man, but maybe not the case for all. Definitely do your research and maybe find out which tune he did and if he did his own work on the car or a professional and see where that goes?

My favourite shop at the minute is Lakeview Automotive here in Calgary - they’ve done a bunch of work on my car, installed the Lowering Springs, and ordered the parts for me. They’re great. Highly recommend if you’re in Alberta going through them. Tell them I sent you, Peter the owner is a great dude! They’ve done a bunch for my wife’s truck also. They’re a great all around shop.
