The game felt a little stale last night. Obvious talent on display, but it felt like they just went through the motions. Not a lot of "personality". It would just be nice to see these guys enjoying themselves. Yucking it up a bit, sharing a laugh or two. Papi tried to manufacture something, going through the dugouts, but everyone seemed so uptight. Almost made it worse.

True, they don’t want to do it, the golden goose’s need a break. All star games need to go away

I’d say that the hype leading to the all-star game was Skenes. However, Duran/Ohtani/Clase and Soto impressed more. Thinking the all-star jerseys were chosen by sycophants. I agree 💯 with Michael. Use your own uniforms with gold lettering and numbers. The greedheads can still get their revenue stream. Teams should be able to have 3 strike/ball challenges beginning next season. Hell, they should be made immediately. 32 minutes straight of ⚾️. Gracias amigo. Good catch on the Jack Black issue. Yep. It was his asshat partner.

I dunno how many of you have been to AAA games in recent years, but the B&S challenge system was the first instance I've ever seen of a review system that was straightforward and not time-consuming for the players, the umpires, or the fans. And any player that came up through the minors over the last several years will have experienced at firsthand, which should (in theory) flatten out the adjustments curve somewhat at the major-league level.

Go back to each player wearing the uniform of their team. Maybe change the color of the numbers/logos to gold

Agree 💯Well said. The greedheads could still profit from all-star uniforms and players could get to represent their teams.

Hey David, I know you’ve mentioned this before but I was shocked by the number of all-stars that aren’t batting .300 or above. Even Soto, who I thought was one of the best, is at a .295. Are pitchers really that good?

I think mostly so, the movement and the velocity seem too much. Hitters all trying to hit home runs isn’t helping either. Nor the analytic approach of “don’t shorten up on the bat with two strikes. Hit a homer!”

I think the players wearing their own uniforms is the best idea. However, if you want a separate all-star uniform why not use simple uniforms where the league logo replaces the team logo/name and just go with simple white home and grey road uniforms.

What I would change about the All-Star game it just get rid of all all-star games in major sports because they're all pointless and absolutely boring but that's not going to happen because there's way too much money involved for the leagues in question

Looking at the mess with TV rights and coverage and everything I can't help but think the Blue Jays model might be the right one. If you don't know the company that owns the Jays , Rodgers, is a media company and they also own the network that shows the games. They pay themselves for the rights. Maybe in the future media companies like Amazon might just buy teams to guarantee content..

It helps Rogers/Blue Jays that their market is basically all of Canada, as opposed to just Toronto (which also explains why the franchise didn't stand in the way of the Expos leaving Montreal)
@scottcarter6623

@@masashi_tashiro oh Yeah I don't think Rodgers would want to see a team anywhere in Canada again, Regardless of any natural rivals it would create. There are some Boston fans in Atlantic Canada, A few Detroit fans around Winsor and some fans of West Coast teams in BC, but fewer and fewer every year. I have watch since 87 and I am almost 1,400KM from Toronto. Sportsnet is the main sports channel coast to coast and the Jays own Canada. The Jays makes Rodgers much more money that shows on their balance sheet. That said imagine a world where Amazon owned the Red Sox and Red Sox games were available everywhere you could get Prime Video. You would have Red Sox fans all over the world.

Between the uniforms and the field it was played, that All-Star game was a total eye sore. The broadcast looked like a Class A minor league game at best. It was just hideous to look at.

@@clifford7594I have much sympathy for alcoholics. Plenty of good people struggle with that and I hope all of them can overcome. But regardless of your odd hatred for a song, she accepted a job and showed up drunk. That’s on her. You seem more like an enabler than a helper. Don’t excuse the actions of the sick, forgive them, yes. But hold them accountable, how else will they get better?
