The Baez hate in the comment section is BS. Despite doing it twice several YEARS apart, it is in NO WAY typical of Javy. He may struggle, he OCCASIONALLY (though, by no means, often) has mental lapses, but it is absolutely wrong to ascribe his mistakes to lack of effort. He is NOT BJ Upton, Yasiel Puig, or Anthony Rendon.

I live in Detroit and have been a tigers fan all my life. This is the level of effort I've seen from baez too many times. This just shows his head is not in the game. I made it all the way as a young man to AAA. If anyone had pulled this type of crap, you definitely knew you were going to hear it. Making it to the majors is a dream of all minor league players. We saw too many bums called up over hard hustle players. He should be sent down to A ball.

Bobby Thomson made the most embarrassing base running mistake in the 1951 tie breaker playoff with the Dodgers. He ran to second not noticing the runner ahead had stopped there. It looked like that blunder cost the Giants the pennant, but they didn’t send him to the showers. Good thing, too, because Thomson hit the most famous HR in history with 2 out and 2 on in the bottom of the 9th to send the Giants to the World Series.
