Cavan Biggio is another candidate for a one tool guy for discipline. Never had a year with a batting average above .250, never had a year with an obp below .300. His career obp is within .030 of his career slugging, and in AAA this season he has a .167 batting average, .313 slugging and a .397 obp. His defense is good enough to avoid being a real one tool player, but as far as hitting goes, he is one of the finest bat on shoulder guys the world has ever seen.

Plate discipline as a one tool is such an interesting case. My theory on why there are so few players with that being their one elite tool is because those players also supposed to be really good at another category, it’s just injuries have taken those physical tools from them. The only active player with only discipline as their great tool is LaMonte Wade Jr, and that’s really only because injuries have hampered his ability to make contact and power.

I'm sorry, but I don't care what Gore did, you have to give the title to Washington, the guy probably never picked up a bat in his life and probably didn't really even know the complete rules of baseball or at least the major rules of baseball. Talk about one hit wonder, or no hit wonder, Washington is the definition of it. I don't think that he could properly swing a bat. As you correctly pointed out though, the A's turned stealing bases into a science and with using players solely to pinch run, sometimes actually keeping 2 PRs on their active roster at the same time. In the 70s they were the called the "jackrabbits" giving everybody the Green Light even the batboy. Two records that will never be broken, they had 7 guys in one season with 20 or more steals (5 with 30 or more) and set the major league record that will never come close to being broken: 1976 **341 team stolen bases**
