Fun Fact: Logos on the back side of the mound, and behind home plate were first done at Comerica Park by the head grounds keeper of the Detroit Tigers. The logo on the mound wasn't as colorful as some you see as it was made from used coffee grounds. She used those and kept them subtle because she wasn't sure what MLB would say about it.

i love that in baseball, it's perfectly legal (and entertaining) to employ daring acrobatics to not get tagged. you dont just have to make a straight run to the base. if you want to jump and twist, go for it!

14:26 Votto received some criticism for this and made a public apology. But he has a point. The fan is within his rights if he doesn't reach over the wall onto the field but if it is your team, and the ball is playable in the first row, get out of the way.

True in a perfect world. That fan did what most others would and acted on INSTINCT. Votto’s minor assault of that big oaf was totally unprofessional and the attention that received on the Fan-O-Vision put him at risk of hostility or battery from the other thousands of fans who saw this at the stadium or on TV. Votto should have been fined if he didn’t apologize to the fan and give him an autographed ball between innings. I was at that game back in 2016, I believe.

29:55 is just bad umpiring. You cannot use any equipment except the glove/mitt to catch a ball. Doing it by accident happens but if you do intentionally, that's 3 bases to all baserunners. Why were no runs scored on this play?
@steveburke1519
Жыл бұрын
I believe the rule makes no distinction between accidental or purposeful. Also, you don't really see the umpire's ruling here, but I do know the rules for equipment violations such as this is 1 base for a pitched ball, 2 bases for a thrown ball, and 3 bases for a batted ball. So here, runners are entitled to 1 base.
