She really did well, I'm so happy for her. She deserved a golden globe, because that was a very difficult role to play; a mother who is physically, sexually and verbally abusing her daughter and it brings awareness to issues such as incest and molestation.

ppl are hating on you but you have to see the situation for what it is.......Break the most rebellious slave and the others will fall into line. Taking nothing away from you as an actress and your craft. But, step outside of the hype and sensation of this all and look at it objectively. What is hollywood saying by awarding you this honor for this particular role? Ur a such a beautiful woman, and i know that you are helping many ppl with ur success.....i dont doubt that. But this pulls us back

beautiful and brilliant woman i am so happy she won. i love how she had total control of the press room when that reporter, who had already asked her something was gonna ask her another question, and she told her to give everyone a chance to ask a question. and i totally agree w/ her about lee daniels, she doesn't get the credit that he should, such a visionary

I was so proud of her. She was so classy and elegant. She was so professional. She deserves all her blessings. Yes she is changing the face of Hollywood. Yes there are many Mary Jones' and Preciouses in the world, male and female. Yes it is time to tell and and forgive but you can never forget. You must get help and be able to move on. May we see much more great work from Monique. She is funny and heartwarming and yes you will never be able to come for her. She has a quick wit.

I must say, I never thought she had so much class and tact after listening to her raunchy, extra vulgar comedy routines, but Monique has shown nothing but class and positivity lately and I'm so proud of her. She has truly grown as a person and I know her husband is a big part of her growth.

@Valapaca read what you wrote. Monique PLAYED the mother in the part of the movie. its called acting. you must also read the book and you will understand why monique got the award and she deserve it. many people said obama is not ready to be president because of the color of the his skin. so monique is not ready because she is a comedian???

Monique will win the oscar tonight. Racist Hollywood loves it when black people are shown in a negative role. From Hattie Mcdaniel to Halle Berry. Why did'nt Denzel Washington win for Malcoln X...but won for Training Day?

@ramrod20042000 To climb a mountain, you have to start with that first step - I'm thankful that they have stopped ignoring us to begin with. So we are just gonna keep winning and winning and before long they are going to have to recognise us in positive roles too (though Jamie Foxx in Ray wasn't particularly negative, nor was Jennifer Hudson). Good for you Mo'Nique, whatever you played... did you see them white ppls faces when she went up to get their award

trash. Monique sweetheart, u are being used to validate and perpetuate a stereotype that doesn't even reflect who we are as a people. Ur very talented, and funny. But sweetheart, this???? In your heart you know this is wrong. U know that aint how we grow up.....You of all women should identify with a black womans struggle, and commitment to their families....i have to say that they used you because of your strength, and realness to give meaning to a dying stereotype. Baby i know you may think
