I just took delivery of a new 2023 Model 3 LR (June 2023) and checked: LFP is NOT listed in the Additional Vehicle Information screen and the charging interface specifies different limits for daily and trip use, indicating that the Long Range Model 3 does NOT use an LFP battery.

Seems right, first video I’ve seen reporting the update. Short and to the point, love it!

that is the same range as the 2018 M3RWD (325) and it ran 0-60 in 5 sec, this is faster, if this is LFP this is great...whohoo...peace

They would bring the LR back when I already ordered the model 3 performance

LFP would be cool. Those customers may never know what it's like to charge only to 82% daily. That really makes the usable range the same or more. I wonder if accelerator boost will be available for the LFP version?

Just chatted w/ tesla online about this. They will not confirm this and are avoiding the questions if its LFP "At Tesla, we prioritize delivering high-quality vehicles that meet our customer's needs and exceed their expectations. While we don't typically disclose detailed battery specifications, we can assure you that every Tesla Model is equipped with top-of-the-line technology and designed to provide exceptional performance and efficiency"

The LFP batteries need to be charged either 50% or 100% of their full capacities each time in order for the car to recognize that there are enough charge in the batteries. If you are in a hurry to work or some places and you just want to stop by supercharging station to add 20, 30 miles only while spending only a few minutes doing so, you can't. You have to wait patiently until it either gets up to 50% or 100% of charge. There have been LFP-battery powered Teslas dying on freeways due to the system thinking that there was no battery left since the owners did not charge it either up to 50% or 100% of full battery capacity.

It is true that LFP batteries need to be charged to 100% for the system for calculate the correct range. However you aren't forced to do it all the time. Generally charging it once to 100% a week would be enough for the system to effectively calculate range.

My theory is Tesla needs to get approval from the IRS for the second half of the tax credit. Once it gets listed it "may" get the full credit

On the Base Model 3 LFP. Peoples average range is around 215-229 vs the 279 as advertised due to the 10% degradation after around 17,000 miles . So the long range could get around 279

interesting. my wife's 2021 LFP (at the time had 250 max range as it was one of the first) still gets 240. she's at 22k miles

It strange that Tesla still recommends the Long Range in cold weather on their site if it is indeed LFP. Considering how poorly LFP batteries perform in the cold. Maybe its the new LFMP batteries?
@RobertSchmitt

@Subvaries generally the risk for cold weather is negated w pre conditioning. both battery types are poor in freezing weather without precondition

How trustworthy are they? Do they really know? My 2023 M3 LR will be ready for me to pick it up in 3 days. I really hope it's a LFP.
