Nice update Dennis! I've used those styrene pieces as shims on a couple of spurs that weren't quite level after watching an uncoupled boxcar roll away from the industry where it was spotted. That's why I save every scrap of anything because eventually a use presents itself. Looking forward to seeing the train run to the timesaver!

Sorry I missed the live, Dennis. It was great and the banter was fun too. You did a nice job on the timesaver move and getting it wired to talk to the rest of the layout.

Your turnouts are amazing. That dual gauge to single narrow gauge turnout is impressive. Great advice on building a proto layout to experiment with all aspects of the modeling and control systems.

Thanks for the kind words, the ability to build your own turnouts is a great advantage in the hobby!

I liked your advice at 23:00 and I wish I did that back when, many moons ago, rather than discovering what I liked and not liked at the expense of time, money and other resources over many years. But everyone dreams big, and wants to get the trains running as soon as possible, so we end up being blinded by our own impatience. 😄

My very first attempt at a railroad was started by trying to build a Helix. What a disaster! I grossly miscalculated both the radius and the grade. I won't mention how terrible the track was. Looking back at it now, I'm thankful for it. I learned so much in that failed N-Scale helix. I went with a simple N-scale shelf with no elevation changes. The time saver was very intentionally completed because my two previous builds were never finished. Thanks for stopping in, I'll get around to catching up on your progress in the next few days!

If you are having issue with tortoise wire, why not use a plastic or brass tube so the foam will not interfere? Nice job.
@OtterCreek

No problems with the foam interfering. It's the distance, just need a stiffer wire when trans-versing almost 2" of material. Thanks Steve!

The height adjustment with plastic card was absolute genius. BTW it is height (pron: hite) not height-th. However, I will take excellent vids over minor imperfections anytime.
