90 percent of marv tuts are the same. Polygon tool. Seams. Curve tool. Very little on making textures with patterns on it. Barely anything on arrangement points. Barely anything on internal lines. They usually want us to always start with the basics. So usually all we get are the basics, not the amazing tools that we'll actually use and make marv so worth the money.

This is a useful tutorial for those who are not pattern-making experts. At the same time, you can make the collar-making easier if you realize that marvelous allows you to control the bend angles of seams which makes getting the bends easier.

@LoriGriffiths
9 жыл бұрын
garvie garzo That's very perceptive of you. If you want to be the best at modeling, you need to understand how something works in the "real" world. I believe that there is an uncanny valley not only to the human form, but to everything, including clothes. Your work will be very realistic, so you don't need to worry about that.
@garvamatic
9 жыл бұрын
Lori Griffiths yup and the more everyday an item or scene is, the faster you slide down that valley. anyway, i studied drapery from a visual perspective my whole life, but now i realize i should have taken more of an anatomical approach to it. analogy being what you see on the skin surface is the result of underlying muscles, and what you see on the surface of cloth is underlying structure acted on by physical forces. anyway, LOVE the videos, watched several more today. soon i will be standing in a fabric store as tho in a deep trance lol
@LoriGriffiths
9 жыл бұрын
garvie garzo I suspect you are very good at what you do. You totally understand the theory. Can you imagine me in a fabric store? Combining my pattern making capabilities and my immense imagination there's virtually nothing I can't make. It's a good thing I don't have much money, or I'd really be in trouble. I just stand there and drool a lot!

@LoriGriffiths
5 жыл бұрын
No plans at this time. It can be done, but it is tricky. Make sure your belt loops are plenty big enough for the belt or it will break out. After you get it where you like, you can freeze the loops and belt as you work on other things so it stays set. Just a couple tips, hope that helps.
@ckat609

Ah! Thank you for the tips. What about doing one on folded clothes and/or on clothes on hangers? I've tried doing that, but all my shirts and pants end up looking bulgy, sort of inflated. The fabric doesn't stick to itself, like it does in real life.

Hi.. I have followed all steps which you have demonstrated. If we see the collars and cuff in common, they have a thicker material from the rest of the material of shirts. They are much stiffer. so I have given a extra stitch (3mm) around the collar. So I tried cut and sew method. But the lines are not disappearing even after I simulated. Could you please suggest me a way? if not at-least how to get rid of the lines after using Cut & Sew method?
@LoriGriffiths

I'm not sure I understand what you are describing. If you are talking about the lines that MD leaves behind that are a grayish purple color, you can select them using the Trace tool and then delete them.

Your vids are great but!! I cannot get the patterns to work with models in the T pose. Tried to work the arm patterns but they won't stay on. Tried pinning. No good. I am sure a lot of folks who use d software that requires T posed models would like some tips
@LoriGriffiths
9 жыл бұрын
Bad Badger They won't stay on? That seems odd. Are you using a custom avatar or the MD default? If you use the default, you can change the pose to T after you get the garment done for exporting out.
@petermunning8138
9 жыл бұрын
Lori Griffiths By they won't stay on I mean they break up and try to reform as hands down position. I know how to fit arrangement points etc: and I am using my own models from Maya 3d. Does this mean I cannot reset to T position.
@LoriGriffiths
9 жыл бұрын
Peter Munning Don't use my project, clear the avatar and load yours. The pose information is linked and will mess it up. Try this. When you open my project, save out the patterns you want as Garments (File>Save As>Garment. Then in your project with your avatar, Add > Garment. If it asks to load a pose file, say no.

Lori Griffiths Hello Me again or should I say us. I am afraid your idea did not work out but perhaps it's because I am a poor explainer. Let me put it simply. I have a monster imported into MD in the T pose. I need to make a shirt with long sleeves for the model. How do I go about it? Please.
@LoriGriffiths
9 жыл бұрын
Bad Badger The T pose is a challenge in MD. If at all possible, put it in more of an A pose, like the MD avatars. This video is all about sleeves, so it might help - kzitem.info/news/bejne/25qK0qacfKN_gaw. If you are still stuck, go over to my website contact page and send me your monster (preferably in OBJ). I'll see what I can do and put a simple top on it and you can take it from there.
