From an "art" perspective, I prefer my Duckomenta Art version (with "classical" paintings where every character is replaced by a duck). The whole point of this game is to keep the cards that you think will become valuable later. In that aspect it is very thematic: you "invest" in art by keeping them for now in hope to sell them later for more points. This is a brillant design! But it's true that it doesn't not get played very often.

I was last in a five player game (never first) and won the game by 6 points margin lol. Dont know if first player advantage is there or not.

Have always enjoyed Medici and Ra more than this.

My non-gamer family has enjoyed High Society a lot and when ordering a couple 5 player games for when I visit I picked up Modern Art. I likely would have chosen Medici instead if it were available. Modern Art seems a bit more chaotic, since all paintings are equally valuable for each player and it is hard to evaluate them in advance. Medici asks you to estimate the value of a given lot for each other player, which would probably be a bit more engaging to me. But I think Modern Art will still be good for playing with non-gamers.

DeltaDemon1 what's wrong with nice big cards?
@DeltaDemon1
3 жыл бұрын
@@xshadowscreamx They are too big. There's a reason why a standard deck of cards is the size it is. Over the centuries, we have learned what the optimal size of cards is and have standardised to that size. Varying the size slightly is OK, making them too big or too small makes for bad game play. You like big cards, not a problem, you play the game. For me, it's usually a deal breaker.

If you are meant to shuffle the cards a lot I am definitely with you, big cards can get annoying, but in games where you simply have cards for display or just keep them in hand I don't mind

Yeah, doesn't look like they used real artists, probably because they couldn't pay for rights. But in checking on that, I found an artist "Mariana Martin" (without the S as is used in the game) who coincidentally is in fact a modern artist and is pretty good. There's a Nicholas Sanchez as well, but the artwork here under that name looks like vintage clip-art assemblages that is nothing like what googling "Nicholas Sanchez art" will get you...

Some are definitely real. This is Wagner Kuroiwa: facebook.com/kuroiwadesenhosepinturas And this is Denise Jillian Tan: www.denisejillian.com/ The other three I couldn't find.
