Thank you very much for making this point. This is to do with the lack of mentoring. Some rabbis are not mentoring anymore. In the recent past, it would be that you not only teach the man but you taught him manners, how to have the right etiquettes and how to carry himself. With the rise of relativism and Judaism as a job and not a passion, some people were content just to present people with statements but within nourishing these people so they could understand them.

Yes it's true to learn from another is like being given keys. But to give keys and a door is saying that this is the door you must go to. But what if there is an even further door to find more keys to an even further door? The one who takes keys to discover doors for themselves may be able to continue even further than if just given a door and told that now you need not work with the keys because to take keys and to find is an action. It's like critical thinking, the person works in own mind to think.

Rabbi, what is a person to do that is trying to learn, but now has moved away from any Shul. I can not go to Shabbat services and try to learn without breaking Shabbat. What is a person to do ? I had the problem with an umbrella on Shabbat and what I found online after I had done it was as you say: 'this one says this', 'this one said this'. One time I carried a book and this I believe I knew better than because I had read it myself in The Babylonian Talmud, but I had forgotten that I read it because I just started reading it.

So it must be individual paths that lead astray from true path? If supposed to be of one mind?

What you describe is standard yeshivish pilpul... which you are correct for a yeshiva guy or killed guy this would be a shiur... HOWEVER as you describe a standard baal habayit is not interested in pilpul... even if that baal habayit learned in yeshiva and kollel at one time but now 25 years later, works and learns a small shiur whenever he can... don't confuse with pilpul... just give the halacha as u said. As was Rav Ovadias zl shiurim

In the Christianity sector the learning is way less than even this many times. Like a cult of not thinking for yourself. They often pick same scriptures and do different sermons from to keep supporting or to support new agenda. I don't listen to pope but quite sure doing that too. Advantage in Judaism is that people are learning Torah. Some Christians may if finding good teachers but many not caring for divine instruction.

If knowing Torah it's difficult to find in the Christianity sector a place to hear further teachings in divine law because they are so brief if even mentioning Torah. I find on Internet for now..........

This they have in US Christian bible study......they pick a scripture and ask what it means to each person and the people sit and from their own minds emotions what the scripture means to them individually! It's bad.......the supposed teachers leading these are not firm with belief based on what reason that G-d put scripture in book, but how it is that they want to interpret. Maybe some may correct thinking after listening, but point is......why even let interpretations go so far in imagination? Why not have direction from Torah that is direct? This is how excuses are built in the heads from imaginations and that itself is different than the intention of teacher. Teacher to lead, not people leading from imagination because they have no clear point to work with. Critical thinking involves using clear points and not imagination. Curiosity maybe, not imagination which comes often from individual experience and maybe TV's. Individual experience good though for adding critical thought through the learning of divine law.

Growth is uncomfortable.......even mind growth can offend the natural position to want to remain stagnant. So if people want to remain stagnant they prefer to hear those things that they are already comfortable with. They don't like growing pains and the stagnant teacher is their aspirin. Lol

So it better the elderly couples not drive and not go to Shul at all?! Going is right on the heart.

When you drive a car on Shabbat it’s karet-a cut for the soul. It’s a foundational commandment to observe Shabbat. The car makes and extinguishes 1000s of fires every minute

Going to shul is not a Torah obligation, keeping Shabbat is. There is no such thing as fulfilling a mitzvah by doing an averah unless it's pikuach nefesh.
