Please know that my heart breaks to learn of the passing of neighborhood friend and Oakland Feather River Camp colleague, Modibo (who I knew as "Wrig", "Wrigley", and "Phil" from back in the day). When I moved to NYC, and worked at Jazz at Lincoln Center, I told Wynton Marsalis the stories of climbing on a cabin roof at camp--while brother Cotton played along to a cassette of Wynton's "HOT HOUSE FLOWERS". Wynton thought that was very cool, for what it's worth. Rest in power, my brother. Love to the Cotton family.
