Great video, Jeff, thanks so much for posting this! The transformation of the suspension is amazing! I also really like your low-profile rear rack and how you've set up the luggage. I'll definitely mention this in my video next week and hopefully send some people your way. So many people ask about how the XT works for bigger riders and I bet you could answer a lot of their questions. I look forward to the next video!

Gidday from Australia. Hi Jeff just found your channel from Jimmy's. Just subscribed. As I've told Jimmy I'm lucky to own a xt225 with rear disc break . You can do a straight swap from the xt250 swing arm wheel sprocket and brakes with linkages. You will also get the xt250 tubeless wheels front to if you want . Thank you so much for your video if you could please show more about the suspension , how much where to get it as and any contact that sells them . I have to wait until after Christmas now to order a Clark tank it's going to cost me $450 Australian dollars but god knows how long it will take to get as I don't know anyone in the states . Great video can't wait to watch your other videos . Thanks mate keep safe .

hey thanks for watching. the front springs are .48 kg/mm. they are a great upgrade. you can cut the spacer to put more preload on the springs.

I'm in the market for an XT250 for myself and it's getting the Cogent treatment. I have an 08 DR650 and last November I gave it the full Cogent treatment. New springs, DDCs, fork preload adjusters, and the Mojave rear so I know the night and day difference you're talking about. It's unreal. In stock form the bike is so soft it's almost unsafe on the street. After the suspension it's so composed and comfortable. It doesn't ride any rougher but the brake drive and pogo stick bounce is gone. I don't know if I'll go for the whole rear shock on the XT or just a spring to match new spring and DDCs in the fork. I'm only about 200 pounds with gear on and don't plan on riding it too crazy.

Just bought the same springs for my setup. The springs racetech provided are significantly shorter then the stock springs. They only provided on PVC spacer and it isn't enough to cover the preload of both fronts. Did they forget to give me 2 spacers or are these springs wrong? How were yours?

Well I had to cut mine down to set pre load. They must have sent you the wrong spacers

Thanks very much for posting this video, greatly appreciated to see your success with the suspension mods. If you followed my comments on Jimmy's channel, I have both a 2015 XT250, and a 2007 XT225 that I subsequently bought after being inspired by Jimmy's video on "why I bought an XT225 in 2017" (title is something very close to that). The XT225 is MY bike, the XT250 is "my" bike that my son commutes on, and it's a great road plus easy trails machine. But the XT225 is a gnarly miracle with its low weight and 6 gears, it spans an almost impossible gap in the total market of bikes that have ever been built. I ride it mostly at idle following my short legged doggy, mostly on very easy and soft trails, plus the 5 minutes on streets to reach them in my astonishingly trail-blessed town (she fits in the big bin on the back for the paved bits). I am geared down so far, that I ride mostly in idle in 2'nd gear, lugging if you can call it that, because 1'st with a 13 tooth front sprocket is profoundly low, really just a bush tractor gear for those times when you are foot-waddling through raw woods and don't want to stall no matter what you climb over. Tractor bike. That can still do 100km/h on the road. That 6'th gear really is magic, that the XT250 will never have. And that norm of riding at extreme low speed is why I still haven't upgraded the suspension. That being said, I flipped/almost the bike twice going up steep hills, until I finally adjusted the rear shock up to its maximum spring pre-load, which finally got the tail end high enough to keep up with the front end on steep hill climbs. Now I'm learning something new, about climbing the really steep shit with confidence, and that is good. I also followed Jimmy's advice and added some pre-load spacers in the forks, and that really helped too. I'm not quite as heavy as you, but that front sag was brutal, could not touch the front brakes without drooping 50%. It was really bad, and now it's usefully better, but still not where it DESERVES to be. I believe it's worth spending the money on this bike, nothing else quite gets where it does. You have shown me it's worth it, which I suspected, but now I can say thank you. :)
