Wow! When I find videos that cut right to the root of the problem (and save me hours of frustration), I usually send some dollars to a patreon account, so don't be afraid to do some self promotion...especially since youtube threw about 6 ads that I had to skip past to get back to this video. Also, one wonders why the Moen instructions do NOT even mention that plastic point of failure...probably a lawyer trying to avoid liability...I hope they never need a sink while changing a diaper before going on vacation while trying to complete a big project at work................. just saying!

Thanks for the this helpful Instruction Vid! It was a lifesaver! …. Cause, while I LOVE Moen’s Parts Warranty Support… their Picture instructions is like cave-wall carvings - terribly hard to Understand! THANK YOU THANK YOU! Got the free parts from Moen today, including the cartridge replacement - which I had to look up exploded diagrams and closeups on your assembly. The old cartridge was hard to remove due to the flat side gaskets getting hung up in internal brass body….. turned it around several times (instead of the 90 degree turn as instructed)… finally popped out! This hardware is Moen Vestige model # 7065SL - purchased from Lowe’s 2009. Thanks Again

Exactly. Ditto what Sean and Neil said. I used this video to check my assembly for our Moen 7065ORB One-Handle High Arc Kitchen Faucet, Oil Rubbed Bronze. Got the kit for about $20 from a local plumbing supply. It was the same kit shown in this video. The detail is great in the video and humor to boot! The only difference for mine was a washer that is shown in the printed diagram that comes with the parts kit. Thanks for giving us homeowners something that Moen should give. Mine was sold with the lifetime warranty but waiting for a callback next week and another week for the free parts was unacceptable for me. Thus the lifetime warranty was useless this time. I am the original homeowner from 2007 and this is a ritual that we do about every 5 years with our Moen facets.

Thank you for your awesome step by step process. I have this exact faucet and after sending Moen pictures they let me know it's the Vestige single handle Model No. 7065SL. The cartridge was tough to yank out but I used a little WD40 and some muscle to pull it out. I nearly gave up on the assembly. I'd get to the finish line only to realize the lever handle wouldn't control the water flow and after several unsuccessful attempts I finally found your video and discovered I was assembling or "stacking" the parts incorrectly. You saved my sanity. It all works fine now except that the cover didn't really "snap" into place. It wiggles to the left and right slightly but I'm calling it done. Thank you again. I'm going to wait a few days before moving on to the hose.

If you go to the end of this video, around the 8 minute mark, I show how the handle goes on. In order to get the handle off, you might need a thin putty knife or butter knife to get the plastic hot/ cold indicator off. The unscrew the screw with an allen wrench. The handle should then lift right off.

You can't remove the nut? Out should turn counter clockwise. If it's the handle you will need to remove the Allen wrench screw. It is not special, I think it's about 1/8th inch. It's fairly small and I believe it is the English variety, vs the metric variety. I how this helps.

How do you replace the cartridge with this type? Do you have to unscrew the assembly from under the sink?
@highqualityhomemaintenance7565
5 жыл бұрын
To replace the cartridge, you will need to shut off the water. Then just have it disassembled like in this video. You will see the silver clip, it needs to be slid out parallel to the counter top. After that the cartridge can be grabbed with a vice grip where I had mine. You may need to give it a good yank..... but maybe not. Lift straight up, and out it will come.
@vinnyop

Follow up: used vice grips trying to pull and yank straight up and it wouldn’t budge. Ended up getting the moen extractor tool and it worked easily, freeing it in no time.

Hi Chuck, I don't recall how the spout comes off. I apologize. It is quite possible that the faucet may have to be removed dron the sink. However, if not, you may find an Allen wrench hole on your back or the left out right side, or the top may simply pull off and then you may be able to access the disconnect part at that point. Marc

@highqualityhomemaintenance7565

Bill Tennant Hi Bill, You will need to go deeper. Undo the entire section that I took apart in the video, turn off the water, then pull that clip that is holding the cartridge into the handle base. It can be seen right before I install the first piece of (white) plastic. It is copper in color and is cut out of sheet stock, so it's flat. It's the shape of a 3 sided rectangle with one short side removed. SHUT OFF THE WATER BEFORE REMOVING THIS. You may experience Noah like flooding if you don't. Pull out the cartridge and go from there.

You have 3 options. 1. Get the screw out - place a thin object under the head of the screw, if possible, and pry a little bit while unscrewing at the same time. If successful, replace parts as required. 2. Call a plumber to replace the defective part. 3. Either you or a plumber can replace the faucet in its entirety.

@highqualityhomemaintenance7565
3 жыл бұрын
Well, it sounds like you will need to shut the water off. Both hot and cold. Then there will be a clip that pulls out. It fiends the two bars that integrate with the plastic piece that initially goes on. Once you pull out that clip, the cartridge should be able to come out. At this point you should find a defective seal or gasket.

@highqualityhomemaintenance7565

If it worked before the new cartridge was installed, it has to be the cartridge. It could be the diverter that shuts off the faucet to provide water to the sprayer. If that's not it, then it could be clogged, and then it would have to be a piece of rubber that entered into the faucet. If it's the latter then get a new faucet.
