An adult doesn't get up and leave the room(aka run away) at the first sign of trouble. This was a conversation between two "men". Frank is the man of the house and Mo's father. He has provided a roof over her head, fed her, clothed her, taken her to doctors appointments, and everything else expected of a parent. He wants to know that this young man that his daughter is interested in won't ruin her life. He has been her protector & provider for her entire life. He loves his daughter. He wants her to do the best she can in life. If you are speaking to the man of the house, you show that man the respect he deserves. Especially when you have been welcomed into his home and to his dinner table. Frank is an adult, an actual adult. He knows that high hopes & dreams don't often pan out the way we would like to to. He was trying to offer Q insight into considering some amount of education. Q doesn't need a 4 year bachelors degree, but a few semesters of community college in some mathematics courses like probability and statistics and a few business classes wouldn't hurt his chances of success. How is Q going to be a good mate for Mo? At the first sign of adversity, he gets up and leaves the room. Will he do that for every challenge that comes along? Will he do that if she gets pregnant? Will he do that if she goes off to college and he is still trying to make it as a rapper? Will he do that if she gets a really good job and he is still chasing the dream?

Especially when the show never implied his family was struggling like they did with Hakeem and Nicey. You can't just go by the way he dressed/talked because that was simply NY swag. He lived with his dad and his dad also played an active rule in his life growing up when he lived in NY. Q was in school, respectful to his elders, had a natural entrepreneurial spirit, he didn't drink or smoke, had a job working with his dad and he actively was perusing his dream doing sets a the Bombay and he hardly pressed moesha for sex. I understand how hard it is for Frank to see his daughter dating but Q has a good plan. It may not be a college route, but at his age he has a job (some teenagers don’t) and he want s to be an entrepreneur. Obviously for him to do that he may change his mind to receive an education. It’s ok to not go to college.

College is for everyone who wants to farther their education and opportunities in the working industry. There's all kinds of colleges to go to this isn't the stone age nor desert. You cannot complain about having less opportunities when you don't even expand your own chances in life.
