Thanks for the update Brad. I regularly listen to Monish but Im becoming less convinced that following him is going to be productive. An example is the Turkey issue to off set 50% inflation is not quite good enough when they have 70% inflation. I will be very interested to hear what the total returns are on his funds. I would not be surprised if they are low. On the plus side no person is ever any worse off by gathering more opinions. All the best

I think he lost credibility after the SRG and BABA sells. You can't preach an investing method where you buy "no brainers" and hold, while you sell them a few months after the purchase.

Point is, when he made his first investment in 2019 he got %30 of the shares for 7 million dollars and now they are worth 30 million usd. So inflation is meaningless long term when you are valueing the businesses is his point. Which I totally agree. I have no idea about his overall returns but one thing that I'm sure of is Turkey is yet to be the most attractive value investing country in the future with these pricings, It' is not a question of '' If '' but ''When'' and Mohnish sees it very early. So In my opinion his returns will be well above average in the long run.

@@simba1608 this is why you dont copy someone's purchase. If you do then you have no idea what the value is or the driving factors. That being said the philosophy behind investing is fine. You just got to put in the work and find your own companies :)

@@Meaty33 I already understood that there's no point in copying superinvestors, specially Pabrai. Also from what I understood too is that there's no point in picking stocks at all, and indexing is the only "rational" way to invest. But I'm still trying to understand if there's a way to overperform consistently through stock picking. The thing is that Pabrai talks so well and makes a whole lot of sense, but in practice he doesn't seem to do what he preaches one should do. If Pabrai bought BABA, he should have a clear idea of the value and the driving factors. And if he's only willing to invest in the best of the best ideas, why does he a couple of months after purchasing one of those "best of the best ideas" sells it to buy another at a loss? It just makes no sense, and makes me doubt if listening to him or any other superinvestor talking about investing (excluding Buffett) is even worth the time.

@@simba1608 well ill attempt to address each point you made 1) indexing is only the most rational thing to do if you are, as Buffett says, a "know nothing" investor. In terms of capital allocation you can out perform the market fairly simply. up to about 10ish million, maybe more but that's around when the capital starts to really bulk up and returns dip. Remember though, the market isn't the only place you can go to allocate, and also remember i used the word simply, not easily. 2) In the situation of buying then selling I would cite Li Lu. Paraphrasing, he says that sometimes when your work is 90% done and you're invested in a company at a low price you come to some piece of evidence that can change your outlook. So that may result in you being wrong in which case you sell your position, you take your hit and you move on. Simply put, investing in the market or in anything is a game of odds and something made him think the odds weren't in his favor.

@@BradKaellner Brad, you should - if you haven't done already - take a closer look at David Tepper. Flawless track record between 1993 - 2010, then nailed the bull market in US stocks (see the videos here on YT), but he's now, for reasons that make sense, a bear for the broad stock market. Maybe you can interview him, he may be hard to get though.
