This mill with a round brick body dates from 1857. The dark green painted beard features some ornaments in red and white and the inscription "Anno 1857 Landzigt''.
The round stone ground-sailer was built in 1857 and then operated for over a century, after which the mill was shut down and slowly fell into disrepair. In 1975, the mill was purchased by miller Hunink, who worked with volunteers to restore the mill. Soon the mill was again grinding for individuals and bakers.
Everything was going so well until in 1990 a storm became fatal to the mill; during this storm the mill started to turn, causing a fire which largely destroyed the mill. People did not give up; the foundation 'Molen Landzigt 1857' was established which made efforts to rebuild the mill. With the help of subsidizers and many volunteers, a complete mill soon stood again.
In 1992 the restored mill was opened, and to this day the mill is in operation for grinding flour and cake mixes for sale to individuals.
