I work in a foundry where we pour molten metal water don't mix well with the furnaces I've seen blow outs not as bad as this one but still bad enough to take half the roof off the new building, seen a die bounce off once as well that was pretty bad hope all were safe

John - looks like a water leak on an induction furnace. Was this an aluminum or iron explosion? What was the root cause?

It may be a steel explosion

I have worked on such furnaces it is basically a ceramic crusibel surrounded by thick watercolled copper coils if the crusibel gets compromised the +1550°C liquid metal will melt the copper in no time and shortly after that BAMM why the ceramic was brocken maby: bad wrong charging of the furnaces, bad maintenance, operate fail -> overheating of the metal over the specs of the ceramic, but normally these furnaces have a kind of alarm if ther is a current flowing between the liquid metal inside and the coils or the ground and that was the worst nightmare I could imagine absolutely no clue why the workers were so chill about it I mean get away if ther is a (sorry I know only the German word for it) "Erdschluss"

@@GLOBAL-INTIFADA well afterwards I would be chill but before naaa shit I'm out I mean if you work with molten steel or iron you kinda lose the fear of burning yourself pretty quickly I mean yeah it hurts a bit too get burned but it happens almost daily That a droplet finds it's way too your skin and normal fire (started by the droplets) is well kinda underwhelming in comparison And the work boots are a great help as long as there is no deep poudel you can stand in/on molten/glowing metal not for long but slow walking is absolutely fine (the rubber extinguish it self almost immediately without contact) and I have same storys left 1. My colleague standing unfazed with his pants on fiere (the lower half of the legs was double layerd and the outer burning) it too 3 shout outs till he understood that he was burning and his reaction was looking down, looking back saying "ah, OK", lifting his leg a bit and putting his hands around the cinders and goes back too work 2. I had a shower with molten steel caused by error of crane operator and I had the work assigned that needed the closest proximity to the metal around 400kg molten steel in the air is beautiful and a bit scary at the same time and definitely samething I will never forget but hey not even a scratch but it was pretty close 1 step too the left of my position has quite a huge puddle afterwards (~200 kg)

@@vadiks20032 as a man with same time at such furnaces I cann say these guys were way to chill for what happened ok I had a shower with molter steel my self (red orange rain in every direction so I tocked my head in in jumped as fare back as I could the safety equipment (hard had, visor, glasses and the fire retarded jacked and throusers as well the protectiv foot wear) prevented any burns I was kind shocked but all right) But a accident like with will set a arlam my accident was well human error so nothing that did warn me but these guy have a loud arlam ringing and still move that slow just dumb and ignorant

You can be the best work at a foundry and that can still happen it’s a mixture of the molds having moisture in them and 1500+ degrees of aluminum
