Great lesson! What I like about these videos is that you mostly cover the „unknown“ songs. It’s not that I never heard about them, but they are not the basic popular frusciante/rhcp songs. Really refreshing!

Thank you! Yeah I know what you mean. It’s a real vibe learning/relearning all these less known songs. It’s like re-experiencing growing up, haha. :D And it’s even more fun being able to share it with others like this. :)

Thanks for taking the time to tab this out. Many of the tabs online had kind of the right chords but in the wrong positions on the fretboard.

Great lesson! This format is great in my opinion as a pretty intermediate player! As a suggestion I’d love to see an intro jam of John that your into and maybe tips for improvising over a track of it!

Thank you! I’m glad to hear that because I’ve tried different formats. :) I feel like with this format you can choose between a short version and a long version in one video. :D That’s a great idea! I’ve been thinking about ways to make a lesson that promotes improvisation too. :)

Thank you so much Vigi. Your videos are the best. This video tutorial just came out at the precise moment. My Martin guitar just arrived at my home. I'll be trying to learn this song all day. Thanks :):) BTW, I wish you could make a tutorial of the Forever Away song or the Outside Space song. I know they are quite difficult especially the Outside Space, but it would be great to have a video lesson of that song, and you don't know how much I would appreciate it.

Wow which model this you get? :) I’m sure you’ll get this today. If not, I’m sure you’ll have a good time progressing. :D Awesome suggestions! I’m listening to them right now. Was a long time since last time, but I listened to them a lot in the past. I’ve written them down in my ideas list so we’ll see what happens. :)

@@Vigi I got the Martin 00-15m, I chose this model because of your videos (However if I am not mistake, you got the triple zero size, isn't it?) and also because it is similar to the John's Martin Guitar. Let me tell you that so far this guitar is SO GOOD, It really exceeded my expectations. Thanks for answering me, and to make these first-class videos. Peace!

Cool that you look up music videos to see how exactly he plays it. I personally don't care about perfectly reproducing the original, but some people do and it's great that you put in the effort. Thanks!

Yeah I would do it like you too if I where to just learn it for myself. But I want to go the extra mile since I present this to other people. :) Also, it can be fun and satisfying to study things in depth. So all in all, it depends on the context. :)

Thank you! Yes, you for sure will! In the beginning it’ll feel stressful trying to remember the pattern. But in the end, you’ll reach a point where you don’t need to think about anything because it’ll be in your muscle memory. :D

Hey Vigi, may i give a lil suggestion, what do you think of turning up a volume for vocals just a bit in the background? Anyway... ty!

Hmm, I don't have the isolated vocals and think I'd like to not use the original track when making the lesson. 🤷♂️

Vigi what scales do you use to take john's solos by ear?
@Vigi
3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, for the most recent solo I just simply focused on listening to what the notes are in the solo, without a scale in mind. In general, I mainly focus on figuring out the pentatonic scale as a foundation, and then I add notes to that which I see fit. :)
