The keyboard volume seems to be a lot louder than in earlier videos, where it's very soft compared to plucking. Is it because of practice with a technique to "tap" rather than "press" the keys? Or just adjustments in the amplification level?

I’m not sure why, since there’s only one basic technique for keyboard playing- press a key to hammer a string. Could be because for this session we used much better recording equipment than in previous videos, which allowed me to have much more flexibility with mixing the sound. As always, the plucked sound has much more energy than the keyed sound

@@sami_elu Cool, thanks for the info! Is there any mechanism to ensure the hammer doesn't stay pressed against the string if you hold the key down? A typical piano mechanism does this by placing the hammer head on the end of a spring, but I guess simple gravity and a bit of looseness would also work? (I really don't know - I've never tried to make such a thing myself.)

Isaac Kuo yes I can explain roughly.. there is a very narrow space between keys and strings but it’s just enough so that when I press the key all the way down there’s about 2 mm of space between the hammer and string. So it’s just gravity doing its work
