Being a short ass dude I wish I could carry a larger pistol but unfortunately not. In the winter with a jacket/hoodie I’d get away with it, but in a t shirt no way. For me the cr920 fits my hands and body perfectly.

Nice. Great idea to use separate categories for subs, look forward to more reviews. I think it’s smart to see the non-comped and non ported versions first as a baseline.

The real advantage of a gun this small is that you get a “deep” concealment option that has an identical manual of arms to your regular compact or full size. Large and small gun from the same manufacturer allows you a “real” gun when it’s feasible and a smaller gun when you need it, without having to totally retrain yourself on a second platform.

Exactly this! I have my mr920 elite and my cr920 elite, I love that they're identical in every aspect except size. Identical trigger, grip, slide serrations, etc etc. I'll carry the larger gun in the colder months and the smaller gun in the warmer months

I have an MR War Poet, a CR Combat Optic, and a DR Elite. The CR is easily my least favorite of the bunch. Mine came with an out of spec trigger that I needed to do a warranty replacement on and it took about 5 weeks for it to happen. Even in spec, most CR triggers will have a lot of travel between the wall and break (I work at an FFL and I have handled only one CR that had a trigger pull very similar to an MR/DR/XR). It's the only gun in their lineup that doesn't have swappable backstraps. I have the neutral "1911 style" backstraps on my MR and DR because I can't stand the Glock hump; the CR has the Glock hump and there's nothing I can do about it. A KÄGWERKS raised and extended slide release for a G43 won't work in a CR because the CR is different enough that the specifications don't match, whereas I have a G17/19 KÄGWERKS in my MR that worked just fine after a little sanding of the bottom nub of the slide release. I still like the gun and it fulfills the subcompact niche for me pretty well, but it could have been better. I run a 507k with a TLR 7 Sub on mine.

Spot on. Shadow is YEARS late with the CR920. This cr920 needs to turn into 43x clone and it’ll be their top selling model.

@Rez5454 G43x clone would sell for sure. Myself and others still like the 43 size though for it's niche. A longer grip just doesn't conceal as well.

I agree with sawyer compacts ain’t it you should carry full sized if you can. the smallest I’ll go for grip size is my 43x. My basic rule of thumb is if I have to lift my hand off the grip for a mag to fall out and or to shove a mag in it, it ain’t for me. You gain nothing if the “concealability” causes poor management of the firearm I.e. filumbling mags and or the firearm itself. You always want the upper hand in a gun fight. And the smaller things get the finer motor skills you’ll have to have and we fall apart in some aspect under stress. That being said. train with what you have!

Are you guys going to start including more light bearing options for us wrong-handed people? I keep trying to follow your advice and carry a bigger gun, but stuff like the 3.6” M&P 2.0 doesn’t have light bearing options, same with the CR920. I like your holsters over every other company I’ve tried, but I’m not going to carry without a light option.

We don't go into reliability a ton in these reviews. Reliability in general is so subjective, we really don't feel like we could adequately score any gun on reliability. Everything can break and almost every bit of evidence out there on "reliability" is purely anecdotal.
