I bought my Fir*** Tri-fuel generator for the hurricane season. I got to use it for the first time for the Texas Freeze and again later when we lost power from over 2000 lightning strikes hitting the grid in the Houston area. I have natural gas for the cooktop, water heater, furnace & dryer. I hook up my generator to natural gas and to the electric panel. I have a 4-ton (46,000 BTU) A/C unit. I installed a Micro-Air EasyStart 368 (4-ton) Soft Starter ASY-368-X48-BLUE. My AC unit now has a Start Peak of 33 to 36 Amps. Trying to line up the plug with the inlet at night? Take a marker or white-out and make a line on the plug & socket to line up the two before you twist it. Keep battery charged. Install emergency lights that come on when power goes out. Install them where you set up the generator and at the panel. Have an extra spark plug. Maintenance is easier when using natural gas to power the generator. My Tri-fuel is on sale at Cost**.

Thanks! I love the emergency lights suggestion. Battery maintenance is super important for many things with this extreme heat. Definitely going to bring natural gas into the mix soon.

I have a 4 Ton Goodman AC system. Just installed a soft start from micro air, before I did it the locked rotor amps Wes 113.5, after it dropped to 35 amps. This stuff is voodoo magic!
