Chakram retriever works practically the same way as mirran spy for an add 2 cmc.

Oh, I like this suggestion. It's definitely going in the deck.

I made an emry deck before watching this. Some suggestions: Mesmeric orb for graveyard filling Intruder Alarm is a good backup for Mirran Spy if you sac Memnite or Ornithopter to Ashnod's Altar or Krark-Clan Ironworks And my newest addition is Encroaching Mycosynth which makes any nonland permanent in my library and graveyard artifacts for artifact tutors and recursion.

Thanks for commenting! I like Mesmeric Orb as a graveyard filler. Intruder Alarm is not in the deck because it would take the build in an entirely different direction (i.e. from self-sacking cantrips to creatures+altars and infinite mana). As another viewer suggested Chakram Retriever is more suitable back-up for Mirran Spy. As for Encroaching Mycosynth, personally I don't like it. Most of the deck (or most Emry decks for that matter should) already be brimming with artifacts, including artifact lands, which you could grab with tutors. It only affects permanents so it's not like you could tutor with Fabricate for a C. Rift or Engulf the Shore either. Realistically it should only help with tutoring/recurring Mirran Spy (assuming you are trying to do what I am) but then its still 4 mana do nothing card that requires another card to work (a tutor or Emry herself), but one that brings an extra layer of risk toward making Emry an artifact thus opening her to more removal options. Cheers!

Been wanting to build emry for a while, thanks for the fantastic deck list ! Also, if I have urza, should I include him ?

Thanks as well, mate. As for Urza, in this particular list I'd say no - most of the artifacts (esp those part of the combo) themselves require to tap and sac, meaning Urza can't tap them for mana and the very niche way this list can make infinite mana is with 3+ mana reduction on artifacts + Commander's sphere (which would also draw a card so maybe 60 to 80 mana realistically before deck runs out). Where there is a will there is a way tho, so if you really want to play Urza you can add [[Krark-Clan Ironworks]](maybe replacing reservoir or maniac) and sac and replay artifacts with Emry and Mirran spy. Tap artifact with Urza>{U}, then sac with Ironworks>{C}{C}, tap Emry to replay artifact and untap Emry with spy. Cheers!🙂

Why not cards like lotus petal or paradise mantel?
@MadcookieBG

In this build (main goal being Mirran spy interaction), Paradise Mantle doesn't do anything with Emry. At the very best scenario you'd need krark-klan ironworks to sacrifice it and replay for infinite colorless, but even then it wouldn't be any different than any other 0 cost artifact. Lotus petal is a good suggestion as it makes infinite storm count/mana of any color, however the deck has no use for infinite mana (zero X spells except 2 tutors) except replaying the graveyard for possible value (only real non-combo value in my build is repeatable Mindslaver). By focusing on the chromatic artifacts and the baubles, the deck draws a lot more cards (both at increments throughout the game and during combo), thus speeding its clock. Cheers!

But if you add lotus petal you can add Freed from the real and or Pemmin's Aura and add more redundancy for The mirran spy.

@@noname-oh2sv Pemmin and FftR are very good suggestions but I feel they are more suited to a more grindy value build of Emry. The reason is that the two can't fully replace Mirran Spy, as their loop needs actual mana and at the very best will provide only infinite storm with lotus petal. Mirran Spy's trigger on the other hand is free and not only allows for (near or fully) infinite storm but also to draw our entire deck at start of next upkeep with the Mishra/Urza baubles or when combined with an artifact CMC reduction to draw the entire deck immediately with the two chromatic artifacts and conjurer's bauble or even commander's sphere.

@@MadcookieBG Yes you need the lotus petal for it to work, unlike Mirran spy who only needs a 0 CMC artifact. But I disagree that it's a more grindy wincon. It's literally the same wincon only it's more specific. Emry + freed from the real + lotus petal + Aetherflux reservoir = win. Or you can go Emry + mirran spy + urzas bauble + Aetherflux = win. Or you can go for the draw your whole deck and win with a thasa's oracle effect. The best part of Emry is there are many different combo lines you can go for. I personally like having as many combo lines as possible. When you rely only on mirran spy I've found that 1, it becomes really easy for people to know exactly what to look out for. And 2nd mono blue isn't the best at searching up the mirran spy where as any of the artifacts are way easier to get onto the field. So if you give yourself redundancy for the mirran spy you'll have to dig a lot less and have a combo line a lot more frequently.

I also added Grinding station and blasting station to my build. Which replaces the Aetherflux reservoir in the combo. Two other ways you can untap Emry infinitely is by running isochronic scepter + dramatic reversal + sol ring. Or you can go Ephetto alchemist + illusionist bracers. I would also recommend running Mesmeric orb + basalt monolith which mills your whole deck. Conjurer's bauble + Tunnel vision can also work in the deck. There really are so many combo lines you can work into this deck. Also It's nice to have a couple that don't rely on Emry.

If you go Emry + Mirran spy or chakram retriever + lotus petal + Mindslaver you can control every turn for the rest of the game.
