I just found your channel from a comment you left at Tim Nolan's Ratdaddy Studios. I wanted to drop by and say hello since I just subscribed. Nice review and build of the '56 Bel Air. Hard to go wrong with any of the Tri-Five's.

@@DonzTattoozGarage Thanks! Unfortunately, DecoArt’s Enchanted line doesn’t have an orange, but if you’re looking for a budget friendly acrylic, I’d recommend trying FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint in Orange Flash. Createx is another great option; they have a good selection of water-based paints that you can sometimes find on sale at Hobby Lobby. That’s the route I’d go unless you’re experienced with thinning down and spraying acrylics which can be a bit tricky. I used to spray only acrylic before I got into Createx paints and they’ve been a game changer for me!🛞💨🏁🤘

Your headed in the right direction, but I think your combinations of paint might be what's causing you issues. Obviously the trouble started with your primer, not sure what you used, but I would recommend using a good quality automotive primer/filler from someplace like AutoZone, etc; It's a bit pricey, but lays down really nice and dries fast. Do thin coats, let it dry for 15-20 minutes and add more if needed. Rustoleum, sucks, period. Your almost always going to end up with a ton of orange peel or etching your styrene. Use it on your yard furniture, not your models!! LOL!! Not all of those water based paints work well on models either, craft paints are made for craft items, and generally just "lay" on top of styrene and have no adherance. There are specific water based paints out there like Autoair or Wicked Colors from Createx that with go down on almost any surface. They still need to be topcoated with a good clear coat, but are made to accept it without messing with your finish. They have a ton of killer colors, including the flakes your after, as well as kandies and pearls. Make sure you get the reducer that goes with it, (#4011) both it and the paint are not expensive at all and will yield you some nice results! I hope you don't think I'm ragging on you, it's still a great build! Just some friendly advice from an old painter.

@@Ratdaddy2023 Hey, thanks for the advice! I appreciate the breakdown. I’ve got some Createx Wicked and candy paints that I’ve been working with, and I also played around with House of Kolor on one build so far Thanks again for the solid advice - it’s always great to learn from someone with more experience!
