That Mercedes 540K coupe was molded in the BEST maroon color I`ve ever seen It did NOT need to be painted! A polishing and a coat of Ultra Gloss clear laquer really produced a first rate finish. These Monogram classics are outstanding models and real pleasures to build.

My kit must have been tossed around a bit. The plastic had a beautiful gleam to it but was scratched all over the place, Gluing the top on would have presented a situation I didn't have the skills to do correctly!

Mom built all the Monogram Classics when I was a kid and while I thought they were cool they didn't have guns or mags so I wasn't interested in building any myself. Until recently. I built all the Phaetons in the series last year-the Cadillac is my fave.

Top class kits not only for their period. The quality and finish of Monogram plastic is still unpaired. Wonderful instruction sheets, with plenty of photos and directions for a perfect assembly. Early issue box arts were very fashionable too. I can't forgive who chose to give priority to Revell in spite of Monogram.

The early kits w/4 stars are the cleanest kits,as molds were new. The early directions were mostly reading with a tough to follow black and white photo. A lot different then later versions. Thanks for stopping by!

That must be a new kit. I remember Revell and Monogram merged into one company. Then maybe 10 years ago Revell did the Black Widow (a 57 Chevy) a subject I've wanted to do for years. There were these old kits in the 1970's I'm not sure all of those features were in them nor do I remember if it was Monogram who did those kits. Good build here. It has been a while for me

Most of the Monogram classic kits date back to the early 1960's, I built some as a kid in the early 70's . I highly recommend these kits to build and enjoy! Mpc, AMT, Testors are some others that did classic kits. Monogram kits build easily and other than chrome parts installation can be fussy, any of the 13 kit editions are very rewarding, available and not too expensive! Try one??

Thanks! Checked out your channel, nice stuff! Do you build anymore? That flip nose 'Vette is a very trying kit, as you mentioned. I had 3 of those kits, had to try many combinations to get a nose that came close to lining up with the body? I use the chassis and parts from those other kits for better quality model kits out there!

David R Lentz, USA Mr. Bayer, these are truly compelling models. Of your presentation, the most interesting for me is at 7:09 on your video, the reddish Mercedes Benz with the lustrously glossy vermilion plastic body that I agree with you, and I indeed aver, requires no painting. In fact, I would go so far as to say that no paint job could approach what you already have here! Would you perhaps know the year and the model of this car?
