The fact that YOU say a monopod is so important gives my so much piece of mind on my purchase ! 😊 I bought my first DSLR about a year ago. Now I’m shooting ads & weddings (highlights) and I’m so busy & I credit so much of what I know to YOU. Thank you man. I really enjoy this craft 👌🏽 I have so much to learn but this journey is 🙌🏽.

Additional pro-tip for smooth panning: When you already have your elastic bands with you, throw one of them around the monopod handle and use the band to pull the handle and pan it. Totally takes out any non-smooth movements

This is,by far,the best mono-pod video I've ever seen. Great tips, Peter. Great video as usual, but really found this useful. Another thing about turning a tripod into a mono-pod, if you have the highly flexible ones you can use one of the two free legs, or both, as stabilising handles. My manfroto has a lock off head so you can get those directional tilts. Does not work with a ball head. Cheers

Hey Peter! I just wanted to take a moment to give you some positive specific feedback. I remember seeing your videos pop up in my "recommended" section, and I watched a few thinking they were cool, but I wouldn't use your advice. Those were due to some of your videos highlighting ways to stand out on instagram. While I use instagram, it is really just a bunch of shots of my dogs. Anyway, as time went on, KZitem kept recommending your videos, and I kept peeking in on them. I started to realize that you are much more than just instagram tips, and your passion, energy, and humor have kept me coming back for each new video you publish. I am digging the little magic tricks you fit into the intros now. The level of care you put in on every video really shows, and I absolutely love what you are doing. So, I just wanted to say thank you. Your fan, from the U.S. city directly north of Canada, -Jimi

I was looking at getting a gimbal for quite a while now, and just barely saved up enough for it. But as soon as I finished watching this, I knew I should just get this monopod instead. 4:23 Actually you shouldnt use that to introduce more friction/resistance to tilts. That is a tilt lock. More expensive fluidheads come with a tilt lock and a separate switch to change the amont of friction. If you use tilt lock to get more friction it wears down the mechanism and may break even break the thing.

I have learned so much from you and am always entertained while it happens. College would have been a lot smoother if others could or would have done the same. I can only say that I have owned this monopod for about a year and have NEVER been allowed to carry it on a flight. I use it when I'm home but have had to carry a smaller model when I travel. I recently purchased a larger bag for check in so that this one fits. The feet, ball-joint and fluid head make all the difference. It's an awesome tool. Thank again for this video and all the rest. Thanks for the monopod tips - I personally have a love/hate relationship with monopods. The manfrotto you show has solid construction, but I've used a couple of them and they had glitches in their foot ball that made my pans jerky. I currently use a monopod that I modified with a larger base plate foot so most the movement is done with the fluid head that I've found much more smooth than the stock monopod.

I have the same Manfrotto monopod. Two things I don't like is that the head (the one that came with the monopod) does only up and down, not left and right, and that the feet are to short to keep the monopod standing on it's own, even just for a little while, always need to find a place to lean it against. There are other monopods with larger feet. Also after sticking the pod in sea water, the feet corroded very quickly. :)
