Kylie, great idea. When I can fly again to see my 1 yr old granddaughter, I can easily make painty paper for her to tear and learn her colors. Then we can make a flour paste and what doesn’t go in her mouth, we can glue the papers onto white paper and tear them up too. I got this idea after watching Petra being engaged in tearing sheets of the Sunday paper. We’ll be entertained for certain. All I need to bring is some cardboard, a silicone mat, and some kid friendly paint! I sure love being her gramma! Have a good week, Kylie and thanks for the idea.

I can't believe I forgot to watch this yesterday, I hate this new system of not sending notifications from YT to your in box. Your prints turned out so awesome, tbh I did think you weren't going to get good results, but as the paint thickened on the cardboard it was ace and produced fabulous effects. Tfs xo

Thanks so much Ellie. When I looked at the cards again I felt that they weren't as bad as I first thought - I think I had just overp[rinted them and had lost some of the detail. But they will be a background for something or other ... I find it hard to let anything go! :)

Do you have some videos of what you use your monoprints and the gesso-textured papers for? Collages? Journal papers?
@KylieCooStudio
7 ай бұрын
Hi Katherine. I can’t think of specific videos at the moment but if I do I’ll come back and answer again. I tend with papers like this to simply use them with other collage papers and so they will either make their way into collage in painting or as collage or sometimes backgrounds in some of my journal pages.

Love these prints, wondering what thickness of paper you used?
@KylieCooStudio
4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Elizabeth. Much of what I used was ordinary printer paper. The small ATCs were the equivalent of cardstock. The piece of mixed media paper was 180gsm and the deli paper was quite thin. Hope that helps :)

Hi Kylie! Thank you. It’s real good to know there’s substitutes for gell plates. You also mentioned glass. Does that work ok?

Hi J Yi - yes glass also works - sometimes what will happen with glass is you will also get a dendritic effect. I have a video around about the same time as this one and I think I use a glass chopping board. The cardboard worked really well in this video :)

@KylieCooStudio

Hi Cherry - I was trying to use the side that appeared to have less wax but I have done it on the waxy side before. I've always found that it seems to work well though if it was very waxy then I think the paint might chip off when dry. Hope that helps :)
