The theme is likely a new land theme, new monster theme or perhaps the theme of the storm itself. I doubt they wanted to play something similar to what we’ve heard before to drag out the suspense of “What game could this be?” The wind instruments are what lead me to believe this could be the theme of the storm itself. Similar to how a big monster theme takes over when the fight starts the Storms theme may take over when it either is a feature of the hunt chosen or perhaps even a random occurrence. As for the “futuristic ancient civilization” the original story for MH is that it’s a future version of earth. Monsters such as Kushala and Fatalas existed during the fall of man, an event possibly spearheaded by Fatalas that nearly wiped out humanity. The last clinging peoples would develop into the races in MH and while not much is publicly known the people are still wary about expanding too far beyond their settlements. While the Hunters are called to keep balance in check the rules of the guild prohibit over-hunting and any unsanctioned hunts are considered poaching. This is to avoid stoking the ire that brought down humanity once before. The “4 hunter limit” was due to system limitations, but the in-game reason is because it’s considered bad luck.

Hear me out: There are lightning storms that clearly hit this land lots (I assume thats why there are lightning rods and why the pangolin males can attract lightning). Some of the rocks in the trailer look like the ones that are formed when lightning strikes sand. The music at the beginning uses ELECTRICAL instruments. My theory is that the flagship or the final boss of this game is tied to the lightning storms and the thunder element, thats why there is so much electric related things in the trailer.

your guess about the electronic music representing a "futuristic ancient civilization" might actually be correct. monster hunter has previously dabbled in representing an advanced ancient civilization. one of the big things they have done to show this can be seen in the tower map from monster hunter 2 and 4. this ancient civilization was so advanced that they were able to build an entire tower that rises to the clouds made of nothing but elder dragon materials (kushala daora specifically). being able to kill enough elder dragons to build something of that size takes technology, weapons, and knowledge that the current day civilization doesn't have.
@randomnpc445

The artian armor, as well as the rusted weapons (the ones you mine up and then polish with a kajillion earth crystals) also have had implications of a highly advanced, ancient civilization not just in their design, but the equipment flavor text too. I'd love if they combine that with the lore surrounding the tower and really dive deep into something that's pretty un-touched as far as the games go. Also I just want them to bring back the tower god dammit. It's my favorite map in the series and it's so underutilized because they keep using it for glorified arenas instead of giving us the full thing.

The thing that caught my attention is that this is the ONLY reveal trailer for a mainline Monster Hunter game (besides Sunbreak, but I wouldn't count it because it's just a teaser for Malzeno) since the original MH1 which doesn't contain Proof of a Hero. My theory is that maybe we will not be playing as Hunters as we're used to (read as: associated with the Hunters' Guild and the New World's expeditionary team), but perhaps some sort of nomadic hunters, helping defend and keep the peace in the native villages of the uncharted New World. Judging by how the main character carries a slinger and a Scoutfly container (and I'm sure there will be Palicos), I'm sure there's some overlap, but I love the idea of not playing as a traditional Hunter... and would line up with the tribal motives in the logo, which seem a bit Mesoamerican, and Rise - where yes, you are with the Hunters' Guild... but first of all, you are Kamura's best hunter.
@jacklion109

In basically every monster hunter game there are hints an ancient civilization that seemed to have collapsed because they broke the balance with nature. In fact, the whole purpose of the hunter’s guild is to make sure that doesn’t happen again. However, this crucial lore has never really been explored beyond just a couple hints. Maybe MHWilds change that?
@elk3407
9 ай бұрын
So, I think we can assume Frontier cannon due to flavor text in Rise/Sunbreak. And if that's the case, we actually know a little bit about the ancient civilization. One being that they definitely enslaved monsters and used them to guard their towers. Another being that they had achieved what was known as the "Transcend State" which made hunters stronger and more durable and able to achieve feats like temporarily freezing a monster solid with ice. There's several other things, but Frontier did touch a bit on the lore here and there. I really hope Wilds confirms them as 100% cannon and expands on the lore

Thank you so much for this video, your observations were fascinating; the electronic sounds, chords and theme time signature! I also felt the same on my first watch, I was caught off guard by the choices of instruments, it honestly felt Serious and Unknown, like we're dealing with an elder dragon in the shadows. And then boom, such a hopeful, grandiose, happy theme. Peak Monster Hunter. As a veteran hunter that started with MHtri (then 3u) and MHFU, this theme makes me burst in happy tear. I don't know if you'd hear my plea but....do you have the time & envy to transcribe the theme? I can't read sheet music but I learn melodies on the piano via Synthesia videos instead. I'm just...dying to listen to the theme on repeat without the background noises of the teaser, and even better if I can learn it! I know there's a bit of it in the video, so Imma have fun with that, but the entire teaser theme would be EPIC :D. Absolutely no worries if not, it's understandable :) I could definitely get the main melody by ear, but not all the chords haha I will still try, it's a good exercise! (I should really try to learn, I do want to get more serious about playing and composing. It's just a hobby for fun but I want to get better) Anyway, I'm so glad youtube recommended your channel, immediately subbed!

Yeah, the bottom of the logo seems futuristic and makes sense with the synth and what you said. The second part is very epic, like for encouraging to battle, and the part that you pointed out which is at the end reminds of the areas' openings of MH generations in your vods, which are very cinematic. Today's recommendation: Triangle from Shapez (a cool and chill factory game); the OST in general is very good for the context of the game. Nothing else, Adiós!

Just an additional Info on the topic of Rise not having an main theme. Capcom always works on two MH Games at once. An main line Game and a spinoff. Spinoffs offen have another composer and programmers. Rise was a spinnoff. Wilds is a main line game. The logo shows that. 6 dragon heads = mh6 (world had 5 in the logo etc.)
@WisdomAkpan211
9 ай бұрын
Spin off is the wrong word. Rise and the portable games are still part of the main series of games. It's just that within the main series you have the numbered titles and the portable titles. Ironically, Capcom internally refers to expansions (MH3U, MH4U, ICEBORNE, SUNBREAK) as spin offs, in addition to games such as frontier, online, and explore. Its a bit confusing to look into.

Great points about the potential ancient civilization. From your analysis, I get the feeling of there being some kind of old vs new theme. With the synth music at the beginning being a clear statement of this is new and different followed by the "return to the roots" approach at the end. This is mirrored in the logo with the top being tribal and the bottom being high tech.

Monster Hunter has always used worldbuilding and a sort of environmental mis-en-scene to impress this feeling of time and scale by teasing this ancient civilisation that through war and hubris brought themselves to total collapse leading to the setting where hunters need to live as part of the ecosystem rather than separate to it and while i think they have in the past always wanted it to stay as a undefined background the shift with World to a greater story focus might imply they are interested in bringing that worldbuilding more to the forefront. Personally the intro stuff gave me some Metal Gear Solid V vibes. Something suggesting isolation in a local where the player character is outgunned and on the defensive which is kind of the opposite of modern monster hunters vibe. Its going to be interesting to see what tonal shifts the final product brings to the series.

not to mention in world, the coral highlands shares similarities to the fungal forest of nausicaa, and the theme of the rotten vale reminds me hella of the opening theme of nausicaa (take this as seriously as you'd like, this is a hill i WILL die on.)

I bet my brother that this theme and most of MH4 themes are the same composer. It makes too much sense to me.

5:15 I definitely think youre onto something here bcuz if you go to the official website of Monster Hunter Wilds. Theres an animations that plays focusing on that specific rock structure and whats even more interesting is that it first shows the rock charged and surrounded by lightning as if its some sort of portal.
