While bottom bouncing for Walleye I hooked into a HUGE Smallmouth Bass! This 21” Smallmouth smashed my previous Personal Best by 2 inches. 17” girth puts this fish at approximately 5.5 - 6lbs!! Unreal catch for a small lake in Northern Ontario. You might expect a fish of this calibre from the Great Lakes or Simcoe, LOTW, Nipigon, Nipissing, etc… But this back lake is relatively small at roughly 1.5 x 2.5km!!
I also caught a nice walleye (ironically) as I was saying it’s been 2 weeks since catching my last walleye. It ended up being just over the 46cm (18.1”) size limit so it had to be released. Still a beauty fish and a bit of redemption from loosing one boatside first thing in the morning.
This video was filmed August 8, 2024 right before I went to Southern Ontario for a week.
