Happy Birthday Eric Burdon born on May 11, 1941. He is an English singer-songwriter and actor. He was previously the vocalist of rhythm and blues and rock band The Animals and funk band War. He is regarded as one of the British Invasion's most distinctive singers with his deep, powerful blues-rock voice. He is also known for his aggressive stage performances. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Burdon

Saw the group - The Animals - when I was just 14 years old in north Alabama when they came to our city. My friend and I met Eric and Chas at their hotel. Talked with Eric for a few minutes. He was a very nice person and when we asked him who was the leader of the band, he told us there was no leader - they were democratic. Really nice and happy to give us autographs. They had so many hits!

Yes, the song was just masterful. Unless it is quietly slipped in there, they don't call themselves out as part of the festival line-up. Must have been an incredible 3 days. Can't imagine anything ike that happening without it costing a king's ransom for tickets and nearly impossible to get tickets.

MONTEREY - Eric Burdon & The Animals The people came and listened Some of them came and played Others gave flowers away, yes they did Down in Monterey Down in Monterey Young gods smiled upon the crowd Their music being born of love Children danced night and day Religion was being born Down in Monterey The Byrds and the Airplane did fly Oh, Ravi Shankar's music made me cry The Who exploded into fire and light Hugh Masekela's music was black as night The Grateful Dead blew everybody's mind Jimi Hendrix, baby, believe me Set the world on fire, yeah His Majesty, Prince Jones Smiled as he moved among the crowd Ten thousand electric guitars Were groovin' real loud, yeah You want to find the truth in life? Don't pass music by And you know I would not lie, no, I would not lie, No, I would not lie Down in Monterey All right! Three days of understanding Of moving with one another Even the cops grooved with us Do you believe me, yeah? Down in Monterey, down in Monterey Down in Monterey, down in Monterey I think that maybe I'm dreaming Monterey, Monterey Down in Monterey Did you hear what I say? Down in Monterey

Fantastic job! The only suggestion is when Eric sings "His Majesty Prince Jones smiled as he moved among the crowd" That is where Brian Jones would fit in nicely, and would also be following the great sync/flow you already created with matching song and talent.

In some ways this seemed better than Woodstock, and less chaotic too. Had so many big names that were doing things and making important music at the time: Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield, Animals, Byrds, Janis Joplin, Who, Ravi Shankar... Apparently this festival also happened a couple of weeks after the Beatles released Sgt. Pepper's and the summer of love was on. What a crazy time. If only the Doors and the Beach Boys could have made it, and Dylan wasn't a recluse that went country at the time.
