I am safely home & can’t wait to share with you my summer trip! My trip to Himachal Pradesh, India.
Already excited, I was backpacking for my month trip in the mountains. Leaving home didn’t felt so exciting before. Taking a flight to Delhi, I landed safely (all thanks to the pilot). Delhi welcomed me with 42 degree temperature, got fried on the airport itself. 4 days in Delhi, and I was already ashes. Let me pause here and say that food in Delhi was mouth watering, tandoor momos at Janakpuri were my favourite.
My next place was Kullu, the place I had been waiting to visit since years. As I woke up at around 5 in the bus I was already surrounded by mighty mountains. A feeling struck me as if I belong here itself. Met my friend’s 84 year old granny, and she had so much to talk to me, I had met my eldest friend. Next day was our 3 days trek to lug valley in Kullu. All thanks to my friends there for taking me with them. My first trek ever and I was already exhausted climbing 1/3rd of mountain. Somehow I managed up, and it was definitely worth it. Camping in the middle of the jungle atop the mountain with no one around was a whole different experience. Camp fire, Pahari songs and their stories had such positive vibes and how can I forget those UNO cards game which we played till 2 am inside the tent. Waking up into the clouds made me think for a moment that I’m done with life and already in heaven, but little did I knew I can’t die so easily. Our next day trek was at another mountain named chambagad. This place was 9000 ft. above sea level. 6 hours of trek there didn’t make us feel exhausted when we witnessed the mighty lug valley beneath us. All alone on there we set our camp and camp fire soothed our eyes. Total 35km of trek was finally done.
And next stop was manikaran in Parvati valley. Crossing kasol a place well known among the foreigners for weed. Our halt was at kluga village, this place has so much of peace. I didn’t felt like leaving the place, but another adventure was on the way. 2 days later I took a bus from Kullu to Shimla waving goodbye to my eldest friend. Ghanahati, a small village 17 km away from Shimla, my friend’s hometown where I stayed 5 days. Weather in Shimla was sunny and hot. Climbing half the mountain at the nearest bus stop was my daily morning exercise. As my trip was about to end, heard that Mumbai locals were not moving because of rains and I had a clean picture of me getting stuck.
My final stop was Chandigarh, I had my flight the next day, and I had planned to spent the night at airport itself, so dumb I know. But thanks to my friend who let me stay at his residence. Another mouthwatering dish- chicken kulcha in sector 35 if I’m not mistaken made me fall in love again. Next morning, excited to see home I woke up and took the flight. Mumbai rains were still in mind and as we reached closer the wings of the plane started to disappear in the clouds, little did I knew it won’t be easy to get home. As I landed in Mumbai first call on my phone was of my dad, warning me about the trains, that they have been shut down and you can’t reach home today. But I was smart so I had already planned my stay at my sister’s residence. Hopped in my uber and went directly to her place. A week at her house and I was finally returning home, with lots of memories of my trip with me.
