1979 to be precise. The fact that modern society idolises the "Greed is good" 80's is ironic and a little sad in of itself. Having said all that, you're being a bit generous aren't you? smh When this film was released it was a bit on the progressive edgy side, now it's been so long even conservatives love it. The only thing the original is missing from the 2020's version is the iNtENsiTy...

Now, I'm still down with the principles and goals. I believe in social justice - I want what's fair for everyone. Everyone walks away from the table with a little less than they wanted - that's what justice *is*. But I've had it right up to the eyebrows with the asshole crybullies who want to take the notion of justice and pervert it into their own personal validation for aggressive acts of power and dominance. These give the whole notion of social justice a bad name, the same way the idiots who sling AR-15s over their shoulders to go to their suburban grocery stores give gun rights a bad name. And I've looked them in the eye in real life, on their own ground, and told them that to their faces, so they think I'm one with the enemy. They can just collectively kiss my trans ass. People who think the righteousness of their cause entitles them to abuse other human beings - Gamergate shitheads, social justice warriors, neo-Nazis, feminists, animal rights activists, anti-vaxxers, I don't give a tinker's damn what the cause is, or even whether I like the cause or not - are dangerous assholes, and the only difference between them and ISIS is one of scale and methods.
