In the previous section, you have seen in depth on the course layout and modelling the look and feel of your course. Using those techniques, we have built a robust scaffolding for our course.
The real value of the Learning Management System is when we now start providing Learning Content on to the course. This is also the part where Moodle really shines as it is both extremely powerful and very simple in providing great tools for managing learning content of your course.
If you look at the course homepage, you can see every section has a link at the bottom called as "Add an activity or resource".
When I click on the link, a popup window opens up with a list of activities and resource options that I can add to the section.
You can see there is a list of "Activities" followed by a list of "Resources". Out of the box, Moodle 3.0 comes with a total of 20 or more powerful tools.
Usually an activity is something that a student will do that interacts with other students and/or the teacher. The most common examples are Assignments, self evaluation Quizzes, Surveys, Lessons and so on.
Similarly, a resource is an item that a teacher can use to support learning, such as a file or web page or a link or even a complete SCORM package. Moodle supports a range of resource types which teachers can add to their courses.
In the next few lessons, we will see about creating different types of activities and resources to your course.
