When this album dropped it came with individual "scenes" for each song to set the "stage". The whole album is the storyline of a female-female couple from beginning to end. G999: meeting and exciting. Shutdown: the intimacy. Lunatic: going crazy, showing the dark sides of yourself, becoming toxic almost. For Me: loneliness after the breakup, staring at the unread message, looking at the couch. DduDduDdu: the acceptance of the breakup, "let me go". Also, in this intro video you are only hearing clips of the "intro: synopsis" so if you ever get the chance, check the full thing. (it can be on your own time) There's also a different version of the song that she did for an online concert, the dance performance video is where you can hear that version. She knew what she was doing and was not afraid to talk about it. Did not shy away from saying it was a female couple live on her radio show, Studio Moon Night, when this album dropped and the two features of the album came on the show to talk with her about it. The design of the album is like a film reel, a sequence (hence the title), and she is Director Moon. We also refer to her as CEO Moon from time to time, mostly when she takes charge to get something done. It's hard to not read into things, like super hard. But I try to keep myself safe and just view this as the work of art that she put out. Even though she had her say in every single part of it, from design to story board and everything. It's saying a lot but not being solid in the one thing we all wonder. Also, Moonbyul just announced she will have a repackage of her last full album!! Dropping on Aug. 21st, Starlit of Twinkle. So new Moon to look forward to! It will have new songs, and she mentioned doing promotion on Music Shows as well! RED HAIR MOON IS BACKKKKK... this era Moon is back. 😁

The album tells love story in phases from the meet up (G999), honeymoon phase (shutdown), confusing as you get into the relationship and being in love with someone for sometimes (lunatic) to the break up (For Me) and letting go (ddu ddu ddu). The album comes with her self-written scene for each song like a movie scene. One of the best concept she put out, very thoughful and detail in story telling sense.

Moonbyul and the other members of Mamamoo have always been very open when supporting the LGBTQ+ community'. Even having a LGBTQ+ FAN group called " Rainbow Moos". I also believe Mirani and Saori have also been supportive of the community.

All my life I enjoyed the music of the lyrics but I have met moonbyul and no one interprets and describes everything we feel like her. She really is an artist who makes each song her own.

G999 is basically a pun in Korean, Jigu meaning Earth and gu meaning nine, so it's a cute but slightly strange way for her to refer to the Earth. I don't FULLY get everything that was supposed to represent, but given Moonbyul and her penchant for space metaphors the song overall seems to be a fun, upbeat love song filled with double entendre. I feel like g999 was used to both simultaneously represent the love being a new experience, a little bit alien to her, but also taking ownership of it, like "the whole world is ours, the world becomes new when we're together." I'm cackling at your reaction to Shutdown, I thought you were maybe overplaying it a bit at first like you didn't fully buy that we weren't exaggerating about just how gay this song was, but yeah by the end of it even though we all try not to read into these things too much like, that is unapologetically a lesbian fuck jam. They were literally eating fruit loops in the music video! Moonbyul has the only correct "not like other girls" moment, "I'm not like other girls, I'm stabby and escaped from a psych ward :) " I stand by the fact that if you hired a rain machine it is not "performance video" that's a damn music video, the same way that Solar having multiple sets and a costume change for Colors made it a MV and not a performance video, what is WITH RBW and this??? Don't worry Landon, Moonbyul being fruity as fuck is not a secret or even something she seems particularly interested in hiding even if she hasn't "come out" in explicit terms but like... when you're making music like this you don't need to. We all know! You've gotta be in some pretty serious denial to not know!

The whole album and particularly Shutdown is the course of a saphic love affair. Moonbyul used the English "she" in Shutdown specifically so their could be no ambiguity about what she was talking about. In one interview she said she considered a more explicitly erotic version but decided she would avoid the 18+ rating so everyone could see it. She does perform Shutdown at her concerts and during the Mamamoo+ set of concerts Solar joins her and the crowd goes wild. Here is a link to a fancam kzitem.info/news/bejne/uahjunqlnXOVqX4 There are of course many fancams. Seori is very much an ally. She's included gay couples in several of her videos.

From what i recall Synopsis is a song about her musings on love, how shes trying to organize her thoughts and embrace a memory of someone but it keeps getting erased. Its def a sexy beat regardless. It just calls for body rolls 😂😂 She also has a performance vid for it 🥰 Theres a dance vid she posted for it

The shutdown on this album is one of the not so explicit versions she wrote and has saved somewhere. I really want to know what lyrics the more explicit versions have. Moonbyul said multiple times that she doesn't like to use pronouns in her lyrics so everyone can relate. Her writing she/her in shutdown and confirming it's about two women makes it that much better.

Babe, feel free to speak the truth!! Moonbyul has gone in depth about how this album is showing a (one) relationship from beggining to end - A SAPPHIC RELATIONSHIP AT THAT. She has spoken a bit about Shutdown and explained what it was about... I think the talked about it a lot in her radio show with Mirani and Seori. There were even some articles at the time that talked about how openly sapphic the song was. Btw, don't feel bad about wanting to throw it down to synopses - she also body rolls a lot to it. 😔✌ I won't go into every symbolism in this album that makes it extremely sapphic and how it mentions a lot of lgbt struggles, but I'll leave a tiny extra: Moonbyul has performed Shutdown A LOT and every time it seems to become hornier, somehow... Lot's of bodyrolls and thrusting, let me tell you... I remember a recent perfomance she even held onto "something" invisible as she thrusted and I swear...there is no other way to interpret it... sorry if it is becoming graphic but it's not me who keeps showing off that they know how to work a strap. 🙇♀🤦 I'm gonna go bash my head against a wall now...

Incase you havent looked it up yet lol In Korean Jigu means earth, Gu on its own is the number 9. So shes sorta saying ea-ea-ea-earth but wrote the title as G999 as wordplay

Yesss, I really love this album, so I was so happy to see your reaction to it! My favorite songs from it are Lunatic and Shutdown, but I really like them all. Moonbyul's tone also suits the sad/yearning songs like Ddu Ddu Ddu very well. And no, you are not reading into things too much when it comes to Shutdown-that was very much Moonbyul's intention. I don't know too much about Seori, but I think I've heard that she's a supportive ally of the LGBTQ+ community (in some of her solo MVs, I think same sex couples are shown). As a fun note, the guitarist in the "For Me" MV is Kanghyun from ONEWE (my faves!). ONEWE members, and often Kanghyun especially, have helped in providing instrumentals for some of Mamamoo's (and other RBW groups) songs and performances, so it was really lovely of Moonbyul to include him in the MV as an acknowledgment of his assistance.
