Hi! Do you have an email adress that I could reach you at? I need to discuss something with you. Kind regards.

Ok .. wow.. I just noticed that my new 7:33 and this run have the exact same first 3 keys ... only the mountain key was different. Big coincedence? .. or does it actually mean something? .. pattern placement? Higher % chance on certain lairs? ... hmmm

While I do believe patterns to be truly random, I can't be 100% certain about a probability of certain lairs holding a key. Patters are not very likely, because as you mentioned, the last key was found an a different lair. Also, consider about finding the moonstone on a dragon. It's so unlikely and there's no reason for the dragon to be excluded if there was a set pattern on lairs. Probably it boils down to routing a run. It's more likely a run will get reset or the finishing time isn't very good if one doesn't find the first keys in the early lairs. Thus, this increases the probability of finding the first keys on the first lairs in a decently lucky run, rather than the other way around.

@@einokeino303 yea .. its probably just a coincedence. Although there is something to be said about possible RNG manipulation or predictability. It is a very old game, ported from an even older system. Back in those days, standard RNG algorithms weren't so well defined, it could very well be that it is indeed RNG .. but the RNG algorithm it uses is poor and might in some way be exploitable. For example, there are certain runs of games where they wait at the title screen and press start on a certain frame to manipulate the RNG. I don't know if it would be that exactly .. but given how generally buggy the game is, I wouldn't rule anything out. Something that is on my mind a bit, actually, is the possibility of buffer overrun glitching (the game overwrites its own memory). The garbled dialogue at mystic/healer/wizard is usually an indicator of something like that going on. It could explain the "instant game overs".. I also once beat a lair, but it thought I died and didnt give me loot. It could also explain the Dragonstone anomoly, like if memory overwrote the data of the loot table for the dragon and added a value for one of the moonstones into it. I think it could be a real possibility, based on how the game seems to behave sometimes.

Your thoughts about game engine sound like a valid possibility. Not sure if those bugs can be called upon on demand. Probably the dragonstone indeed wasn't intended. I'm not oriented about finding glitches on purpose like some speedrunners so I don't have much to say about that. Sometimes I stumble upon a glitch and use it if I can. I run Batman on C64 recently and found a screenwrap glitch. Basically it would allow transporting to the other side of the screen, potentially through walls. I just didn't find a setup where it would be useful.

@@einokeino303 yea, usually when memory buffer glitches occur.. they can often be utilized in rather crazy ways to break the game. However figuring out how to control them is a another challenge entirely. I am pretty adept at finding and exploiting glitches but.. I've never done any memory manipulation before... not even sure where to start.

Cool np. Not very likely we get more people into this, but better safe...

Yea true haha .. tho u never know. Moonstone does have a decent cult following after all.. maybe there is a speedrunner among them ... that is also crazy .. hahaha
