The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), in collaboration with the State Institute of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development (SIPRD) at Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam, organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 23rd to 27th September 2024. This program was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of Panchayati Raj functionaries and rural development professionals across the 8 North Eastern States and Union Territories of India, with a special focus on strengthening decentralized governance and empowering local institutions.
The training was conducted with support from (TRI), highlighting the importance of tribal development and inclusive governance in rural areas. The programme was designed to foster the capacity-building of key stakeholders, including officials, trainers, and practitioners involved in implementing policies under the Panchayati Raj system.
The FDP covered critical topics such as good governance practices, participatory planning, social audits, and rural development strategies, focusing on the unique challenges and opportunities in the Northeastern region. Participants were encouraged to exchange experiences, share best practices, and collaborate on developing innovative approaches to promote sustainable rural development and community welfare in their respective regions.
