I was in Kindergarden when this was released, and i turned 40 last month. Damn, this is so long ago and it's still so much better than anything that came up after. It's good to see that BM lives until today thx to amazing artists like Taake MGLA and many more, but... man, listening to Morbid and Bathory today still feels like music from another world. Raw, unique, demonic and so fucking good. Dead died early but he shined brighter ( or darker ) than anyone else. Quorthon and Dead, their legacy will remain for all time.

@todessehnsucht
4 жыл бұрын
@@Gregbaltzer I hate to talk about genres because it sounds nerdy and stupid, and I'm 3 years late but, as we all know well, Dead didn't even live long enough to see the genres well established and distinguished from each other. In his time in the band everything "dark" and "evil" could be called Black Metal, be it Venom, Mercyful Fate, Sodom, I guess even Celtic Frost, but if you listen to the guitar riffs this is straight up Death/Thrash Metal. There isn't even Black Metal's (in today's standards) most well-defined characteristics in here: Blast beat drumming and tremolo-picking power chord riffs, although his vocals sounded very Black Metal-esque.

I remember the media coverage of Per's suicide . I used to buy a mag called Metal Hammer and it had a big spread about his suicide, and then the court case with Yarg and Euronymous' death. I wasn't really into black / death metal, but I loved thrash and hardcore stuff. I've recently rediscovered Morbid's EP December Moon. It's fucking blinding. If only Per hadn't heard of Euronymous' and Mayhem. Then he wouldn't have gone to Norway. He may have still been with us.

I read "Lords of Chaos" and "Metallion: The Slayer Mag" and I don't care what the fuck you think about Varg and his poor fucking opinion on the book or the film and Necrobutcher version that Dead had a weird sense of humor and shit like that. I refuse to believe so, I get quite emotional when looking at his photos...I truly believe about his depression and stuff like that. And dude, I really think that he knew that leaving Morbid was a mistake, he wanted to got back to his home, Mayhem was broke, Oystein was a fucking liar, I'm not even surprised why he got depressed. I love Dead and his career even that it was so short...

I’m guessing u haven’t read his pen pal letters, that will help you out in how . Sure pictures tell a thousand words but only of that time, you can’t disregard necro’s comments cuz he was a band member and spend a lot of time together. And yes varg is a lil piece of dumbshit. Lords of chaos is shitty movie made from a shitty book from some dumb ass that wasn’t even a part of it( he couldn’t even get original music on the movie) remember it’s Hollywood not a documentary, it’s not supposed to be takin seriously its supposed to be seen to enjoy the over dramatic tale of real life horror story. In the beginning it said BASED ON TRUTH AND LLLLLIIIEEESSSS
