I like your channel the best of all the similar channels. One reason is that you don’t have a constant sidekick where 50% of the time is spent bantering back and forth instead of the actual project (sorry other channels, I know I am probably the exception). I know bantering is going to happen when friends get together but…..I just like to watch and hear you describe what you are going to do, what you are doing and why you are doing it. I’m not in the excavation business, I just like watching your projects, even the stuck truck.

Hello Chris, I hope someday you put together an old oil furnace squirrel fan rig together for jobs like this one. It will change your fire from a big camp fire to a blast furnace, doing this makes the fly ash smaller so less chance of secondary fires and will be much faster for burning stumps. Just buy an old furnace squirrel fan (100.00 $) and a 20'X14" culvert pipe and a small 110 volt gas generator to power it. It's important to turn it off when ever you approach the fire pit as it get's very hot!

Chris, have you ever considered an air curtain destructor (pit blower)? As many big clearing jobs as you do and then having to wait around for rain to burn slowly, it might be worth your while to rent one and give it a try. I suspect you could burn all that brush and, more importantly the stumps, in a quarter of the time it takes to do it naturally.

@@kenore4003 I think he was making some 14” or deeper ruts and still going!! Heh heh. Downhill,,,,,,. Yeah mud is a funny thing. The weight helps a bit on traction unless the bottom goes out like it’s starting to here. We had mostly AG tires on our farm equipment but had a couple of articulated loaders for cleaning corrals and loading sileage. They had the industrial tires a bit better than what you get for these haul trucks etc, but they weren’t that great in the mud either. The Case W-14 was ok, but our Caterpillar was just a little too big. Went to “Zoom Booms” or telehandlers, JCB and they were much better in the mud. It’s just a bugger to work in no matter what you do outside!

Chris & John use the excavators to get the equipment unstuck. They are large enough units the 220s can even muscle the 30 yard haul truck John has! By the time to get messing around with the D6 and pissin around with the cable, you are already out with the excavator. They don’t have to be careful about the boxes as they are built for heavy abuse. It’s all about time. Chris will do what works the best and the fastest. He has a couple of decades of experience.
