Your front landscape looks gorgeous. The pansies and daffodils are beautiful. I had a streptocarpus a couple years ago that I bought as a houseplant . For some reason it didn't do well for me. I may have overwatered it, that is a good tip to water from below. I will have to try again since it's gorgeous

A new plant for me to look for! Your forsythia looks beautiful too. Drought last summer or cold during the winter kept the forsythia in our area of southeast Missouri from blooming. I only had a couple of blooms on a multitude of bushes. There's always next year!

Love the front walk, that should be really something on a full moon night. My mom was an avid gardener, she planted a forsythia in what I refer to as the way back yard, that will be 40 yrs ago in 2025. It's ginormous, I force stems every late March. Love the streptocarpus in your lovely clay pots 😊

I 🩷LOVE💙 Streptocarpus and Streptocarpella! I bought two Streptocarpus (a deep pink and a light blue) last summer which thrived under my patio umbrella and I have managed to keep them alive and well inside - a first for me. The blue one is full of blooms right now and the pink one had a few blooms which have gone by but more are on the way. I have been watering mine from the top but will bottom water from now on. Thanks for that tip. I fell in love with Streptocarpella many years ago and have bought it every year since. I just recently learned that they can take a bit more light than I was giving them (hanging in a shade tree off the patio). The white pansies just made your daffodils pop! The final result was lovely.

That magnolia is gorgeous! I just bought a “Jane” Japanese Magnolia & am stumped where to plant it. Had a spot about 2 ft from privacy fence but wondering if I should go out beyond it & plant in the openn in full sun. They get 10-15ft high & 8-12ft wide…will be keeping limbed up.) Yuliya, thank you for the video! Can I ask a Forsythia/native shrubs question? Any recommendations for a native shrub that will be as dense as forsythia, vigorous grower and extreme deer resistant for central NJ? We have an area by the pond, and birds love to nest in the dense forsythia shrubs. I would like to add more shrubs for the birds, but yet to find a native one (I did my research), that will withstand our overabundant deer. I am thinking about adding more forsythias...🙄 Is it a bad idea? Thank you.

@@willaerley7140 They definitely don’t eat v. nudum in my garden, though they do enjoy other types 🙄 Also the spiny types of juniper fair pretty well, and many provide bird forage and shelter. Also I have a mock orange (philadelphus, not sure of the variety, was here when we moved in) that is never eaten and blooms beautifully.

@@inkagogo yes they love arrowood here too. But they haven’t touched viburnum nudum in all the years I’ve had it. They eat the softer junipers but tend to leave the spiny types alone. Hopefully you find a solution.

I like them, what's great about Yuliya is she opens your mind to discover different things and combinations etc. And I've noticed that I get a new appreciation for plants that I didn't see that way before or passed by. Her love of natives and enthusiasm is infectious.
