I think Herald of Ash (as far as we know) and Avatar of Fire could work really well together for an ignite build (assuming ignites care alot about base damage) all Phys, Lightning, Cold and Chaos get converted to Fire and you gain all that damage + any Fire damage as Extra Fire Damage

It seems like they are trying to make more build defining concepts, which i love. 100% dmg to mana is a complete shift in playstyle. 40% is simply a modifier. Intrinsic damage conversion is a complete shift, vs the extrinsic is more of an amalgamation. I think they are making a much needed move towards role playing rather than cookie cutter metas that all do basically the same thing.

Maybe the "More" (multiplicative) modifiers are barely available if not completely removed. In the old days of Poe1 only Pain Attunement had it. Then they started adding it to any and almost every support, like Multistrike and Spell Echo or Controlled Destruction when introduced.

i hope they're returning to what i vaguely remember of early PoE1 days where there were big upsides on things but also big downsides (especially uniques). they moved away from that in PoE1 because people endlessly complained that the downsides weren't worth the upsides but i always feel something important was lost in that shift... and that loss could have been avoided by just making the upside/downside balance better.

I hope there are still ways to automate flasks. Like mana flask 'use whenever your mana gets below 40%' Because it looks like having to constantly spam flasks is going to be a big carpal tunnel problem

Probably not going to happen seeing how the devs are moving towards a more tactical gameplay instead of zoom zoom. But it would be nice still. Now that we need to use multiple skills combos for effective damage, 1 button builds will be gone

Unlikely, rather they're shifting to you only ever using flasks when you need it. So instead of spamming flasks to keep them up, you press them only as needed rather than to keep up a set of pseudo-permanent buffs.

@@ArawnOfAnnwn the problem is. At least with the footage I've seen. It feels like you constantly need to spam flasks to even keep your mana up. So it looks less like a 'do it as you need' and more just an APM tax

Making a CI & MOM char who also scales ES could be very interesting for being able to take Big hits, but needs to be dealing consistent damage and or taking legit "breaks" from the fight to recharge. Add mana leech and ES leech supports to the default attack, or a big chungus of a hit with a CD? Who knows. Should be fun, though, for sure.

Afaik, leech has been simplified and changed to 'over 1 second', meaning that instaleech is far less impactful compared to the 'over 5 seconds' in poe1.

MoM looks really cool and build enabling. I hope this isn't a sign that mana sustain is going to be a struggle in the game, I think mana sustain is one of the least fun ways to impose restrictions on builds. Spell mana sustain in poe1 is already in a terrible state. The way spirit works should fix a bunch of issues though, so let's hope mana is a fun tool to play with and not simply a necessary chore to solve in poe2. I'll have to see how conversion feels in practice with the full context of the game. Damage conversion in poe1 is exciting largely because it opens up additional scaling vectors, I don't really get the point of damage conversion if you just change the scaling, but the tree in poe2 could illuminate why this would be build changing. I also hope conversion isn't too accessible, it makes skills lose their personality to some extent.

I think PoE 2 will have a lot more enemies who are strong against certain damage types, but weak to others, giving both multi skill builds as well damage conversion more of a purpose.

I don't like that they make all monster attacks hit and no distibguish between taking spell dmg and hit / strikes. A lot of stuff being cut. Hope it doesnt simplify the game and steer it towards a d3 angle in terms of itemization overall. Note the phrase "steer towards" , not convert the game to d3. Personally i dont think they can ever make the game like d3. But they can certainly steer it towards the simplifications it has.

Because usually all hits cannot be evaded, only projectiles and strikes, not AoEs

Yeah, ngl I didn't really understand what that meant either lol. We can evade all hits, but our evasion is reduced by 50%? Evasion may be another word for stamina that is strictly tied to evading attacks (so in other words we can dodge all attacks but our stamina for evading said attacks is reduced 50%, so we would have less dodges overall) _or_ there are types of damage and/or special attacks that are not categorized as normal "hits". Either way this is horrible wording and should be rectified at some point as to not confuse gamers who aren't familiar with PoE.

Yes, this is old footage. They've changed how you level up gems now, or rather you don't level up gems anymore, you find them - uncut skill gems of varying tiers which can be used to choose a skill of that level, or level a current skill gem you have up to that level. Also, support gems no longer have levels

Why does the UI look like such a downgrade? I don't know if I'll like the acrobatic movements that much. POE 2 looks kind of mixed at this point. It'll probably be good at some point but it's probably going to take time for it to get really good and to get used to the playstyle.

I believe Hierophant will either be gone or significantly changed in PoE2 - the idea of a 100% MoM is designed around the basis of every build(non-blood magic) having a fully unreserved mana pool and to be an option for more builds than just mana stackers

You get flask charges when killing enemies and at relatively common checkpoints during the campaign.

@@neppity5887 not entirely true. Only magic / rare / unique mobs. To be honest, I thought the lead went out of their way to say no flask charges from enemies period at one point.

@@neppity5887 Still even with magic+ mobs giving charges, i imagine it would be on kill and not on hit so keeping enough mana up to build your shield up will be very inefficient unless you specifically do that . I do not know the full details on mana leech

@@evilgibson They recently (a few months ago) changed their stance on flask charges because going to town for flasks was an awful gameplay loop. You don't need to go to town anymore unless you're struggling to kill enemies for some reason. It's in a really good spot in the campaign now, just have to see how it translates to maps.
