Thank you for advocating for these kinds of mods to improve the gameplay experience for all sorts of players. I know someone with manual dexterity/fine motor difficulties so she has a very hard time catching fish. Similarly she has issues with combat, without mods to help with those things, she would miss out entirely on 2/5ths of the game. If Stardew Valley was a competitive game I would understand people getting upset about “cheating” but it isn’t (in most cases-I see you speed-runners).

Thankyou for sharing this!! SO many comments on the last one was just 'this is cheat, ruins the game' and I just was so sick and tired of it. There are so many reasons why these mods help different people, and while on the surface it changes how the game is played, it makes that user's experience so much better!! I am so glad she can enjoy the game with mods like these!!

the winter grass mod is no longer needed in 1.6 grass stays around during the winter. I use Part of the Comity always in my game, it adds a bit of friendship for just living in the game, shipping new items, shopping at some shops and so on. A new mod that has come out that will help you carry items is Satchels, not fully used it yet, but it adds a bunch.

Thank you for putting this together. I have particular brain functions so something that is easy for one player (time management for example) may be stressful for me. Having a mod to take that unwelcome, unbidden stress out of a cozy game like Stardew Valley is great. Also, a mod can't "ruin" your game if you don't install it. Easy.

When I play this sort of game I like to explore it and go to every place you can get to, basically you have the time as they say " to stop and smell the roses," the mods including the cheats give you the chance to do just that. Great video, Cheers.

Usually I don't comment but I really respected the way you organized all the information into a really useful video format. It helps the community and kind of "rekindle" our want to play such a lovely game. Amazing work. Liked, subscribed and... commented? 😅 sry for any misspellings. English is not my main language. Just wanted you to known your work impacted someone across the globe that feels happy and about to download that desert cave elevator at long last ❤

Do you actually check if all mods run on a current version of Stardew? I ask because you included at least two mods I found very interesting which haven't been updated for several years and are not 1.6 compatible. I know you've got a disclaimer about it, but I feel presenting them to an audience in 2024 which is for the most part not able to actually use the mod is disingenuous or at the very least misleading. Even just ensuring compatibility with 1.5.6, which seems to be the current version on mobile, would make me far happier (even if I would still be unable to use them as I play on pc).

Yes and No! Yes I check the updates/description/bio of each mod, No i do not install and test every single mod! The reasons why is because I upload twice a week, and showcase anywhere between 15-30 mods on each mod showcase, and I do actually have a pretty old PC (I am still confused as to how all my Mods run on Stardew, but my PC definitely hates me LMAOOO) Additionally, I work a very intense full time job and genuinely don't have the time to test every single mod! When I do my research, I check to make sure they have a recent update, or appear to work (a lot of mods work with updated backing mods, or if they arent getting updated the modder normally updates them with a note saying it will or wont work!) but I can never guarantee. I will also say if you are trying to download for mobile, not all mods on Nexus work for mobile, it really is a small crop of mods that work for mobile so that would be why they don't work there. I noticed No Crows was not updated, but have updated to a new link (For a 1.6 updated mod), and upon a deeper dive it seems Safe Lightning I found an updated one for 1.5.6, but the modder has taken a hiatus but may come back to update it :') I am just simply a silly KZitemr who wants to share Mods with the everyone, but I am not the Modder or creator so I can't guarantee if they want to update it, or when they will come back! Hope this helps/makes sense 🥰

Also, a lot of popular but abandoned mods have "unofficial updates" made and shared by the community posted in the forum page on Nexus. I've used an unofficial version of Informant since the update. Neither is it a bad idea to get eyeballs on mods that could use an update. If enough people see a mod and love it, the better the chance someone will be able to fix or update it.

I can understand how time control mods would be seen as cheating, which yes there is an aspect to it that is "cheating" like pausing time to be able to do WAY more than you would otherwise be able to, but some people (me) don't like the time mechanic cause its way too fast imo.

i appreciate this so much!!! i use cheats/mods because Stardew is my comfort game. But things like the mines and the speed of time passing in-game stresses me out. So i have mods that let me adjust so I can enjoy my experience aka quality of life!!

I have this on my Switch, but these are making me want to get the game on Steam. I stopped playing because I stopped enjoying it with the difficulty of combat. I wish there was a way to turn off health decreasing, like there is in Sun Haven.

I totally understand, and also very much disagree with your definition and idea of what "quality of life" means in the context of game mods. While yes mods which make un-fun parts of the game very easy would improve the quality of someone's life (with the game), that's not what the term "quality of life" means in a colloquial gaming context. Quality of Life in context implies small changes to remove tedium from something without changing the spirit of the thing. So an example might be bigger stack sizes for items with small stack sizes, but only in a game where the overall inventory limits are not a large imposition on the game already. The problem is that in your last video you mentioned a lot of difficulty mods, while advertising quality of life mods. This is why you got push-back. No matter what your personal definition is, when you're interacting with other people; particularly in a context where you're setting expectations; its very important to use a broadly agreed upon definition rather than a personal one. For those who come to the video for QOL mods, and find difficulty mods, all you have done is make that person aware that you can't be relied upon as an information source for them. To be clear, its not that difficulty mods and accessibility mods are bad, far from it! I think its wonderful to have someone advocating for these mods even if I personally have little use for them. I just strongly believe that its important to meet people where they're at when communicating. When you fail to disclose properly what people are in for, it treads into the territory of click bait, even if the titles aren't sensationalized.

@@XeroShifter while I 100% love and respect this message (it’s nice to have a genuine conversation about this stuff truly) it is hard to fully define ‘Quality of Life’ in a broad aspect. I’m advocating for these mods because Stardew is a large and also frankly, can be a difficult game for some people, and these mods make an aspect of the game that might prove difficult just that bit easier. The reason it’s so hard, is because majority of my comments on my first one were of happy people, sharing their stories on how easier combat has helped them, or being able to auto fish and not struggle with that aspect that can be really annoying and difficult etc. Those comments were like these, longer and more descriptive, but the other ones were just simply ‘cheat mods here’ and that’s kinda it. I’m also a KZitemr and Content Creator, I’m in an industry where to ‘grow’ and ‘get views’ clickbait is a thing, as well as push back from people. I try to steer as clear of clickbait, bc truly I just wanna showcase mods with those around me, but you can’t fully ignore it frankly. Nor can I ignore push back or rude comments, but I simply wanted to stand up for those who benefit from these mods.

@@kitsugamess I appreciate the response. There will always be low effort comments on youtube sadly, hopefully as time goes on your channel will garner more meaningful responses as a percentage of your community. I think its totally fair to push back a bit against unfair and unhelpful criticism. I'm gonna share some more detailed opinions in this response, but I want you to know that if any of it comes of as hostile, to please disregard that as a communication error on my part. I'm merely enjoying the conversation, and not trying to come at you in any way. In regards to click bait, I would disagree somewhat. Its important to have titles that grab attention for sure, but the general line for clickbait versus attention grabbing is if a video (example: "10 QOL Mods that will blow your mind!" ) has delivered on the promises made by the title, or not. If you used the example title, and then delivered only 2 QOL mods, or the mods were the most basic unintesting mods (SMAPI, StardewHack, GenericModConfigMenu) you'd fail to deliver on the promise of the title, and have made click-bait. I think there is room for a bit of exaggeration and sensationalizing before you tread into what I'd consider click-bait (you've used BEST in your titles for example, and I wouldn't call that Clickbait, despite being a bold, and impossible to quantify claim). My point here is actually more that you are doing ok for the most part with the titles, and that I hope you won't worry too much. I think the best thing you could have done is something like "The 10 Best QOL and Accessibility mods!" and you don't have to go so far as to say something as bland and useless as "Some Mods I kinda Like" to deliver on the promises of a title. I would agree that the exact boundaries of QOL for a given community can be pretty fuzzy. Even in my original comment I relied on somewhat vague ideas like "spirit of the thing," but I would say that the No-Watering mod from your original video is pretty clearly in the category of 'against the spirit', just as an example. It turns off an entire game mechanic that is pretty core to the earlier parts of the game, and negates the need to ever craft sprinklers; you yourself even acknowledged in the video that it was essentially cheating. Just like with exaggerated titles, there is some wiggle room, but fuzzy edges of an idea or term is not the same thing as something lacking any meaning at all. Justice Potter's 1964 "I'll know it when I see It," comes to mind as a famously fuzzy to define moment, that still has meaning. Once again, I'm very glad someone is advocating for these mods, and I appreciate the content you're making. I myself use a Speed mod (which IMO straddles the line between cheating and QOL,) and I'll never go back because walking around in SDV is just painfully slow for me, and I forget to bring stuff to places way too often (the back-tracking and short days makes the vanilla game near impossible given my memory issues) to be able to complete and enjoy the game without it. I've also picked up a few mods to try out from your recommendations. I hope you're having a great day, and that the haters experience the taste of hot-dog package juice :P
